PSS 275/35/18 & 295/35/18 Photo Comparison to Stock 19 PSS

Per the thread title, I just got my 275/35/18 and 295/35/18 Michelin PSS mounted on my Apex EC-7 18X9.5 and 18X11 wheels. I took a couple of photos for anyone that was interested to see a side by side comparison. The rears are about 2 inches wider than stock and the 18 inch set looks to be about 1/4 inch shorter than the stock 19s. Also interesting to see the difference between BMW spec PSS and the 18 inch ones that are not.

Top pick is the front and the bottom is of course is the rear. wider 18s on the left and stock 19s on the right. Stock 19s have about 300 miles on them.

Nice! How do you find the rear grip now that you have upgraded? It is a big difference over stock?

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait a few weeks until I swap them out. Going to run the winters for sure until the middle to end of March. It's been a really mild winter so hoping spring comes soon.

The 295/35R18 seem to have very wide longitudinal grooves in them.

Question, the stock 18 sidewall is 40 correct?. What is the downside of going down to 35?

Yes and I will update the thread with pics when I do.

It definitely seems to be the biggest difference between the two.

Yes and I'm not sure, but I didn't have a choice as they don't make a 295/40/18. I was talking to Apex about this setup and this is what they recommended.

He's probably better off with the /35

The /35 are ~1.7% smaller than stock while the /40 are ~2.5% larger than stock

That's quite a difference. I got in on the group buy for ec-7 in 10" and 11" widths and plan on the same tire sizes, although I think I may go with NT-05s as it will be my track setup. Can't wait to see the additional grip.

I also got the 18x10-11 EC-7. I will be going with a 275-305/35R18 NT01 setup.

I am going down to 295/30, which actually matches the front aspect a bit better than standard.

A little bit more info. I've done a couple of spirited back road runs with them on, but no track days yet. Also, these days have been cooler (in the low 60s) still.

They definitely seem to help in straight line acceleration and with getting on the power out of the corner. I'm not sure with overall grip for cornering as I thought there was already tons of grip with the stock ones. Will have to get into that more when I can do a track day and it warms up.

The are only two negatives so far from what I can tell and they are not that bad. Tramlining is worse, especially on heavily crowned roads. It is annoying, but not too bad. The last thing is during aggressive cornering I'm noticing the TC light flashing all the way through it in MDM mode. Strangely, I don't notice any slippage nor TC cutting power or intervening in any way. I don't recall that light flashing with the stock tires. I could possibly just not remember it , but I think I would have. I don't know if it is because the tires are still cold or if the new dimensions are messing with TC. I thought I was in the variance percentage as to where it wouldn't matter over stock.

Hope that helps, still need more time in warmer conditions to fully evaluate them.

do you have any pictures? can you post some. are you on stock suspension? wouldn't there be more wheel gap since your going down to 35?

I do in the 18" thread and yes, the wheel gap is larger (I'm on stock suspension). I'm impatiently waiting for BMW to release their M Performance coilovers to take care of it.

If you can't find it, I'll upload more later.
