Lease return with worn tires or replace?

So i'm nearing my lease return date. I can see that my current tires are definitely worn past the 4/32' that the lease return requires.

I pulled the inspection doc online from BMW FS and it says "$200 per incident" for tire wear. At that price per tire, its not worth replacing the tires myself.

Is this real? has anyone not replaced tires and can speak to experience on what they charged for worn tires?

I can't comment on what they charge for worn tires, but I would replace them with used tires if you can find some on CL. They will most likely charge full retail plus their labor.

Here's what's confusing me on the lease return form:

I don't see what's confusing...

They want a certain tread depth w/ no obvious damage.

Otherwise you pay $200 a tire.

Are you going into another BMW lease? Because, if you are, I'd try to negotiate it down. When I turned in my E92, my tires were shot. But since I was going right into an F82, they made it go away. If you're not though, they'll bang you hard.

I talked to BMW financial and they said it was up to $400/tire. When i mentioned this form he said that he had no idea...

No, that's the issue. I actually had ordered a car through this dealership. a week before it came in, i bought a mercedes. MB gave me a deal i couldn't refuse on a leftover C63. So they aren't exactly my best friends right now.

I am thinking of going to the partner BMW dealer of my MB dealer instead....

x2 for used tires. Just make sure they meet specs (summer tires, same size as OEM, etc.) You might spend $200 total instead of per tire. Sometimes the dealer can work it out for you, but if not buying another BMW, not sure how helpful they will be even if associated with MB dealer where you ordered your new car. Maybe MB dealer can help locate and mount a set of used tires if you don't want to deal with it.

This is true. But at mounting costs of at least $25-$50/Tire, its still the more expensive option. I'm happy to pay $200/tire at lease end to not deal with it... that is if the $200/Tire is true.

Looking for someone who actually got charged for tires and what they charged

It can't hurt for you to try. But from personal experience...the dealer I buy from has an auto mall. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Lexus all in the same park. My wife's lease on her X5 was coming up, and she wanted a smaller SUV. So we went and she drove a GLE, an SQ5, and the new X3. At each place, the sales guys expressed their hatred of the other lines. So, even if this other BMW dealer is a partner of your Mercedes dealer, I wouldn't bet they'll cut you a break.

After all, YOU renounced the Church. And sinners must be punished. Amen.

Good luck.

Please don't play into my MB buyers remorse

as much as I would like to say all dealers follow the exact rules we all know thats not the case. Def best to have them take a quick look, could end up saving you some cash

I was charged $300 per tire on my 13 f30. That was before I put my old RFTs back on. No charge after that.
