Moton 2 way vs AST 5200

Has anyone got any experience of either/both as I’m looking to upgrade my KW Clubsport to a proper rear coil over setup

I thought Moton went the way of the Dodo bird. MCS is the new company.

No. AST purchased Moton in ~2014. Some Moton tech has made it into AST dampers but there’s a reason why Moton 2-ways are > $3-4K more than AST 2-ways.

Lex and co. started MCS. MCS damper designs are based on clean-sheet designs. I’m running MCS 2WR setups on my F82 M4 and F22 240, and am going to be upgrading from JRZ RS1 to MCS 2WR on my e92 M3. Having used Moton, JRZ, TCK and MCS dampers, the best performing dampers I’ve used to date are MCS (I think it’s obvious considering I’ll be running MCS on all of my cars). I’d go with a MCS 2WNR setup over an AST 2-way setup.

Lex has retired but MCS continues to pump out one of the best dampers out there. For a dual-purpose car or track toy, the 2WNR is excellent!

Another plus for MCS is you will get support here in the US and right away.

Yes he has. They absolutely do pump out one the best dampers out there. I’ve used Koni/TCK, JRZ, Moton and MCS dampers over the past 30 years and the MCS dampers are by far my favorite damper. I’m running MCS 2WR on two of my cars and am in the process of upgrading a third to MCS 2WR. I’m thinking about upgrading the 2WR on the M4 to 3WR (I wish it was the 4WR!). I’ve also asked them when they’ll have the 2WR available for the G20 so I can switch to them on my 330ix DD.

The 2WNR is an excellent damper for a DD, dual-purpose or dedicated track car, especially for the price. The trick single comp-reb adjuster is a nice feature.
