Nice video
Dale can pedal a car along quiet well & races in VLN from time to time. He's lived near the Ring for a number of years now & was a biker nut before discovering cars. Had a good few laps in with him over the years including a very wet lap that was sideways for most of the lap in an Alfa 156. |

I've had the pleasure of some tuition from Dale and also been a passenger in the ring taxi while he has been driving (M6 Gran Coupe). He is an epic driver and a lovely bloke...the excuses in this video were the same I heard love the competitiveness.

http://fastestlaps.com/models/porsche-cayman-gt4 http://fastestlaps.com/models/bmw-m4 for instance on the 'ring the best times (different drivers different days) the m4 is slower by 10 seconds. that is a small, small percentage, the gt4 clearly spanks the m4 in the curves, and the sweeping transitions, but the long straights.. i think that is where the m4 makes up some of the time. again, the GT4 is the better car, no argument there.

Oh yeah? My Daddy's 2002 with round taillights ( not a BMW built somewhere Around 2002) is better! : Edit: no. My father never actually owned a 2002, but it sure sounded good at the time ! |

Great video! Seeing the GT4 do that makes me shed a tear..
Three great cars, all somewhat different from each other....made it fun to watch. Although he knows the track well, it was cool watching the Ring taxi driver...wow! Last edited by csbear; 04-06-2016 at 07:09 PM.. |

That guy's name is Dale Lomas and he runs a blog called Bridge to Gantry. He's also a ring taxi driver at RSR IIRC. https://www.youtube.com/user/nurburgdale/videos http://bridgetogantry.com/2/

I rode as Dale's passenger in an M6 GC when I did euro delivery and he was definitely hauling. Super cool guy, and mentioned that he goes his current job by going to the 'Ring a lot as a tourist driver in his Miata, and eventually meeting someone who worked with BMW HQ who was impressed with Dale's driving. Helped Dale with introductions, etc and Dale has been driving for a living ever since. Dale's story almost made me want to see if I could return my 3 day old F80 and get a Miata instead |

Granted - assuming equal drivers and equal passengers, the GT4 will definitely be faster around a track. But straight line - slight advantage to the M3/M4... |
