Leather dye wear

Hey group,

What do you recommend for fixing this?

Some spots the dirt wipes off, other spots is removing the dye!

Were you using a cleaner on the leather or was it just distilled water and a microfiber cloth?

What am I supposed to use? It's only coming off in the spots that are more prone to touch/ wear

Oh man. What did you put on there? I think you need to re-dye your leather.

Maybe the dirt is some sort of chemical that eats the dye or you used a harsh cleaner. But I've never seen that with leather cleaner.

The same thing happened to my armrest. Luckily I found a new armrest for $100. The leather cleaner took out the dirt on the rest of the panel except that spot. I’m assuming the dirt/ oils got underneath the dye.

I guess at some point I’ll re-dye the panel. Or source a replacement door panel from a breaker soon.

It happened with Lexol, and my other cleaner I had too. Luckily, this is the only spot in the car. I think it has to do with being susceptible to wear vs. other spots. My car is higher mileage too

I'll probably try leatherique at some point

I would suspect a defect in the dying process. That should not happen with Lexol. It is possible that the "dirt" or "spot" had a chemical nature which stripped the dye but that IMHO is a stretch.

I would ask the dealer to look at it.
