Ride isn't harsh because the CS suspension combo and tuning allows for more tight handling and better ride qualities over the standard and competition cars.

Try Sport + suspension mode sometime, car feels really tight, yet surprisingly resilient when it hits a bump, never crashed but feels oh so connected to the road.

The M4cs is tuned stiffer than the M3cs, but still harsh isn't a word I would ever associate with the CS suspension and EDC tuning. And yes, the feedback from the steering is much better than the S4/S5 (and again the standard and competition models too) from personal experience, especially the more you push it.

Glad you are enjoying it. Hope your paint quality issues works out.

This is just my $.02, and I bought my car with just one month left on the warranty, and do all my own work, so dealership experiences mean nothing to me.
Some of us are lucky that we have several dealerships to choose from. Some people are either going to drive 20 minutes to the shitty dealer, or 2 hours for the good one. I literally have 3 or 4 within 20 minutes of where I live. More than 6 within an hour.

Sadly, I found a paint defect on the car, and am following up with local dealerships and BMW NA to get it rectified.

It looks like some type of paint bubbling or overspray on the clearcoat.

There is another Dark Frozen Blue M3CS that had a similar issue, except his paint defect looked as if a "dried water drip" went down the paint in certain areas. BMW had to repaint parts of his car in order to rectify the issue. He had a youtube post about the entire experience, but it looks like the video was taken down as I can no longer find it.

Was the paint issue not disclosed to you before you bought it? If not, :
Hopefully it will all get figured out for you with BMW.

Just got back from BMW of Seattle today. A paint specialist came and concluded with the service manager that it is indeed a defect and has approval from BMW of NA to repair the paint.

Estimation of repair time is at least 5 weeks. Three weeks to get the paint, and AT LEAST two weeks for the repainting. There was another owner with my exact paint that required the sanding and painting of multiple panels to correctly color match and that took quite a bit of work and time.
I am quite bummed about buying a new car and essentially not being able to drive it for another two months on top of the risk of panel matching. I am really leaning towards not even going through with the repairs.

What are your guy's thoughts?

I would get it fixed, as it really is two weeks of downtime from what you're describing. You don't have to leave the car with them when they order the paint. Plus at least for now you still have your old car so you can drive it without needing a loner, but if you end up selling it, they should provide a loaner vehicle. The paint issue is significant enough that it will hurt resale value and I would just recommend getting it fixed now. In the big picture, two weeks won't be that painful and I personally have gone nearly two weeks without driving my car. Especially during these times.

I also think they are being overly conservative saying that it will take 2 weeks to fix this. It really shouldn't take that long and you might press them a bit to understand why it would take 2 weeks just to sand and paint. This should be a 2-3 day job at most.

I wouldn't do it and asked to be compensated for it. Paint match on metallic colors is already a pita and being frozen... might be opening a can of worms. I don't think its that bad and if they can give you the costs or 70-80% or even 90-100% of the costs I'd rather take that then risk other panels not matching. Remember these cars are painted by robotic sprayers at the factory from what I know.. hard to replicate or come close, especially on a finish like yours, frozen blue.

What did the "paint specialist" say caused the issue, and will it progressively get worse over time? Is the defect only on the hood where you provided pics, or additional areas too? IDK, if I saw the defect every day, or had to make excuses for the defect when people were checking out my ride, I may be inclined to just get it fixed.

But you're right to have reservations. I'm dealing with a current paint issue myself, and question whether it's worth the effort/possibility for something else to get screwed up to proceed. BTW, how long did it take BMW Seattle to have their Field Team/Regional Rep take a look at your car? I've been waiting several weeks, and still nothing scheduled due to corporate's limited travel bc of covid.

+1 for don't do any repairs. Keep the paint original. The defect doesn't look bad cause it is the same color vs a rock chip down to primer or base material.

If they throw the cash at you use it for clear bra.

Why don't you answer where the rest of the defects are? Probably the OG owner just traded it and cut their losses for mental relief.

The Original owner bought it cash, but only drove it 250 miles, then sold it private party. This has to be the lowest mileage CS.
Those paint defects would not bother me because they're factory made. A rock chip or dent from a shopping cart would be a lot worse.
