Slightly off topic, but...

Each of the different tiers of coverage (platinum, gold, PT+) list some items as "limited coverage". Is there a list somewhere that shows the specifics of what is and what is not covered for the various plans? I could swear I found it once before, but doesn't appear to be anywhere on the BMW webpage anymore.

Check with your insurance company to see if they have a program. They may offer a better price and cover much more.

Personally I would only consider the powertrain+ warranty as it is the least expensive yet covers the most important areas of the vehicle (engine and drivetrain). Once you start getting to $4-5k for the warranty that's just nuts imo.

I didn't get one. Recently purchased 2015 F80 M3 with 13k miles. I went with what consumer reports said regarding extended warranties: https://www.consumerreports.org/used...y-is-worth-it/

I know this was a thing when electric fuel pumps began to appear in the tank of cars for the first time. The fuel level affected two things. first it acted as coolant for the pump so if it was low you risked the pump overheating. Secondly if the fuel level was too low the pump would suck air on hard turns, braking, acceleration etc. This would cause the pump to over rev and potentially damage it. I'm not sure if this is still an issue but why risk it?

Is that from BMW for $6k?

Also, who do you guys recommend for a third party warranty besides my insurer?

Yep from BMW - didn't want to deal with the hassle of a 3rd party warranty. I was actually quoted at the dealership more for the 3rd party ($10k up to 100k miles).

As long as you do proper maintenance with the fluids (oil, brake fluid etc.), never let the gas tank go below 1/4, maintain engine (spark plugs, belts etc) ,look under the hood for leaks, cracks (belts, bushings, engine mounts, trans mounts), look underneath the carriage and fix any issues you find from any of those places then you should be fine.

If one neglects all those items I mentioned then there will be issues down the road with the engine, brake lines, catalytic converter, gas pump etc.

Edit: Wrote it better

i agree 100%
