Get the GTS in its base form or be happy with the M4 whenever you receive it. |

tell your dealer you want them to ship it to the US and youll pick it up there. Canada is shit for prices for everything! and its not even warranted as the dollar has been very strong for years now.

M3/M4 vs. Cayman GTS
I just noticed the Cayman GTS coming on to Porsche's website. Pricing is right on par with M3/M4. It is 340 bhp, but 600 lbs lighter than M3/M4. Very tempting. I have my M3 order in and do need a 4 door car for now, but I will be thinking hard about this.

Porsche will almost always top the BMW in performance. The Cayman GTS is no different. Almost everyone will pick the Cayman GTS if they want a toy or weekend car, for everyone else, they want the everyday usability (rear seats) that comes with the M3/M4. Not really hard to pick based on needs...

If you don't need the back seats, utility or extra space around you then by all means go for the p car. The only negative w rhe p car may be service oriented costs. If this is your daily then hmm but it not then p car.

looks like a great car.. if you can do away with only two seats i would definitely get the cayman gts... i didn't option it out but i'm willing to bet it will be +10k more expensive than a similarly optioned M4.. so you would have to ask yourself if it's worth the extra money

everyone is so quick to point out the straight line speed loss versus the BMW, but it's more about handling with the porsche (aka 4.1 seconds of driving for the BMW or the rest of the time with the porsche). Weighing time of driving and adaptability/responsiveness, the porsche outclasses the BMW in that regard.

I'm sorta in the same boat as OP, both seem really appealing. However, for me, I'm single, no kids, and this will be a weekend car. Only because I commute into work using mass transit (NYC).
The porche will def be a better all around performer. Track time and feel of a mid engine car is awesome, but for street duty that 400+ tq is something I can't ignore |

My gut: 2 door goes to the Cayman, 4 door goes to the f80.
But, who knows. Neither car has been reviewed. We're comparing Unicorns to a Sasquatch at this point. |

It depend on family situation and where you live. If you live close to really nice twisty roads go with the cayman but if the majority of your roads are straight go with the m4.

I might be alone in this, but for me it boils down to looks. I tried to like the Porsches for the simple reason that one could get it straight away, but no go there. They are lovely to drive but unfortunately I have a set of working eyes that will forever keep me from all of them.
So now I'm walking till August. Fun to be stubborn. |

Here's a quote from Clarkson on Top Gear, buying a Cayman is "advertising to the world that your life didn't work out as well as you planned..." What an arse!
My best bang for your buck list: 1. Corvette Stingray 2. BMW M4 3. Nissan GTR 4. Porsche 991 Turbo |

The best of the Cayman (GT)S is just it`s size, that is how lovely small and compact, yet strong and muscular, the looks are IMO
I`m really a Bimmer guy, but those gorgeous ///M3`s are just growing and growing by every new generation. That is not wat I want nor what I need. My current 1M has just fantastic proportions all around and a out of this world stance. And yes, the Cayman has the same proportions, yes it has 2 seat less( but what do I care driving it alone) As much as I do love all the Bimmers I have driven (E46 M3, E92 M3, E82 1M) and also the new F8X M, which is too BIG IMO but a beautiful car, I think it`s time to make a new step in my car career, the Cayman could do it for me. Than again a 6IL M2 would be great, but Scott says it will be a 4IL, probably by 2016 available, that is a no go for me personally. And all that BS talk about a Cayman drivers are losers of some kind while not owning a 911........really that`s annoying to say the least. For me, I like a Cayman over a 911, that`s all, no more no less.......let`s quit all the BS concerning the Cayman being a poor mans Porker !! Is a F8X M driver a loser while not driving an M6?? The Cayman GTS is basically exactly the same car as the Cayman S. It has some options made standard (20" wheels, sports exhaust, PASM, sport chrono) and it has a 5% power bump. I think you can pretty much judge it by the reviews of the 981S, especially if they include that optional equipment.

M4 is advertised on BMWUSA site as 3530 lbs (curb weight) http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/ca...turesandspecs/ http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...fications.aspx The difference is 565 lbs. It seems the US spec M3/M4 will be heavier. |

Thought this was interesting
Cayman GTS has 252.8 BHP per ton using 2965 lbs (1.35 metric tons) and 340hp M4 has 265.4 BHP per ton using 3530 lbs (1.6 metric tons) and 425hp The weight and size of the Cayman is what is so appealing to me, even though it is just behind the M4 on performance. |

I do agree they should have done more than they did as least as far as hp goes…this car with 360+ hp would be just right without encroaching on the 991S too much. |

I had the same idea and I went to test drive the Cayman S. Big disappointment coming from driving E92s for four years. I don't think that the M3E92 or F82 are in the same league. I found the Cayman underpowered and I would never buy one. If I were to jump to the other side I wouldn't go lower than a Carrera S. At $30,000 price difference I think that the M4/M3 have better value and lower cost of ownership.
