Wow, that's really fucked, I'd call the GM, if they're unwilling to listen to anything you have to say after this piss-poor experience and fix the issues then escalate. I'd file a consumer complaint with the state attorney general for ruining your car if they refuse to fix.
Obviously never go back to that dealer again and bomb them on google (after talking to GM), that tends to make things go faster when they want that bad review gone. |

This isn't a Morristown issue. I've had BMWs for a very long time and I can assure you that I seldom have good experiences with any service department. BMW of Manhattan is the worst of them all by a huge margin and that speaks volumes considering they are owned and operated by BMW. The only acceptable one has been Open Road in Edison and I've tried around 5 different places in the tri-state area.
Want to know the harsh truth? We have a big problem in the U.S. with scaling income by qualification/certification vs experience/expertise in every industry. People assume that a license/certification/title holds value and that stuff doesn't even paint half the picture. The guy at your local repair shop who didn't go to school and has no certifications can fix your car without using a service repair/diagnosing manual to do fundamental work. He'd probably do a better job too... but he's going to earn 3-4x less. There's a shortage of good labor that deserves to get paid more because stupid ass socialist policies have basically barricaded them from doing so. The result of all this is that employers have to pay shitty workers a ton of money which results in expensive or low-quality products that the consumer and unskilled/semi-skilled labor pays for. I'm only ranting because I deal with licensed structural engineers (from HUGE firms) that I have to teach basic physics and material science to on a daily basis. The only reason why buildings don't collapse is because they don't actually engineer anything, they just over-design which drives up costs but even over-design can lead to structural problems. Luckily, the high school dropout concrete/steel contractor knows more than they do. |

I'd take my car to get a good detail from a reputable shop and hope they can clean this up for you. I would chalk up the cost to an unfortunate experience as I don't have the free time to do 10 rounds with the dealer or BMWUSA.
At the end of the day if you drive the car it isn't an investment and while it sucks that this happened, for a couple/few hundred bucks it can probably be remedied. You probably think I'm missing the point, but I've had to accept that time is valuable (at least to me) and that I don't have it to fight with people who aren't interested in my point of view, and making it right. So, get it cleaned up the best you can, and unless you're going to take them to court over it, get over it. |

Yep - first law of OCD M3 ownership - Never let a dealership wash or detail your car.
Second law - Never leave a car overnight unless it is in for major repairs and that is the only option. Some SAs and Techs really care but many don't - unless you know the crew at your local shop it's a crap shoot and odds are against you. Best you can do now is re-wash and detail yourself. |

i'm asking my dealer to try and fix the creaking on my car tomorrow. interested to see if they mangle it.
previously they scratched the shit out of my car while replacing the side roof trim, but at least they sent me to a pro detailer who fixed it and reapplied ceramic |
