I think the filtration is just a precaution. There's been issues of guys swapping to e85 and apparently that breaks some junk loose causing clogged injectors.

Now this isn't a definite but In it mind extra filtration isn't a bad thing but is it 100% needed…obviously not.
For sure. I was referring to guys like myself who've had some form of higher ethanol content for 10k miles… believe I wouldn't hesitate due to no additional filters.

Agreed! Reason why I just put my order in haha. I'll probably add a filter kit from bend before the car comes out in the spring.

I run the bend kit. The way it works is that the custom rom maps break down as the following:

If running custom rom and no flex fuel sensor is detected, the map will be set to what octane you set the map to via slot 1-4.

If a flex fuel sensor is detected, there is a full E85 map behind the scenes that turns on. It will scale boost depending on how much E85 the flex fuel sensor is detecting regardless of what map slot you are in.

You will get more power as you increase ethanol content all the way up to E85.

I can't seem to find the dyno chart right now but I can tell you it's a rocket at full power.

I didn't dyno my 93 stage 2 setup, but using the base flex fuel map on E60 I put down 500 on a dynodynamics unit which historically sit in the ~10-11% down from a standard DynoJet. Figure ~550-560whp/tq where it sat.

Never rolled up to E85 on it, so i'd assume a touch more there. Car at the time had drop-ins, catless downpipes, single midpipe and the flexfuel tune using a Bend Calibration flex kit w/ filter.

If this is true you've got me all happy on the inside. I am just surprised that flex fuel CustomROMs that can go all the way to full E85 don't mandate special plugs for St1 if it's a full E85 map behind the scenes. Definitely will want to consider upping the tq limits settings for boost by gear since 10% could be anywhere between 450 on E10 and 550 tq on E85

If you want to run full E85 on custom rom, you need to be thinking of running upgraded spark plugs. Also crank hub should be done as preventative measure.

These are the plugs you should be running on full E85 or any blend of ethanol:

Do those plugs come pre-gapped properly from the factory for the S55 in this application?

No, you need to gap them to .022 per FCP Euro recommendations

I am curious to know if you flash back to stock, can you leave this plugged in?

That is the one thing I don't like about the Bend kit living in CA having to deal with smog.... We cannot have any sort of tune on the car so we have to flash back to stock and to not have to remove a flex fuel system would be nice!

You can flashback to stock and keep the kit connected

That isn't my dyno graph. It was from PTF.

I believe that was max power on full E85.

I also think we're starting to split hairs here. You WILL make more power running the OTS flexfuel maps on E-blends than the Stage 2 93 maps, but there's also still room to grow/gain in going to custom tunes like with F80Paul.

He suggests 575+whp with FBO on stock turbos on E85, and the PTF maps seem to be very safely around the 545-550whp mark. That's about where I netted out on my E60 blend with FBO as well.

I put down 500whp on a dynodynamics dyno, which runs 9-11% lower than a dynojet. Figure 550whp from the OTS E60 map, and assume I might pick up another couple whp going to E85. I don't think the gains would be great there.

They are the same plugs. These are OEM F8S plugs and made by NGK.

Did anyone get theirs in hand or installed yet?

I'm curious how it'll handle cold starts with higher E content - I'm not sure if CustomROM has the logic to adjust the cold start tables based on ethanol sensor readings.
