AA Single Midpipe on ZCP M4

Hello my fellow auto enthusiasts. I am writing a quick review of my AA single Midpipe that I got installed at AutoTalent . Its been about a month and I feel like I have enough seat time driving in various speeds and conditions to give my honest review. First off, I wanna thank Justin.AutoTalent for hooking it up big time with the parts and install. Im usually a DIY guy but at my current resident (Apartment Complex) I was not too thrilled about doing exhaust work and have security bug me.

I read a lot of reviews before I pulled the trigger but found most reviews to be very different from each other. Some people saying it makes a night and day difference and some say it's barely noticeable.

In my experience, this mod, paired with my OEM ZCP rear and OEM down pipes, made a huge change in the exhaust tone of the S55. First and foremost, that annoying rasp at mid RPM is completely gone! Just a smooth and deep sound across the whole power band. The car sounds much deeper on low/mid/high throttle. The ZCP burbles are now turned into POPS that are louder and sound amazing in my opinion (I know burbles/pops are not for everyone and some people hate them so flame away) but for me I think they fit this car well. now don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of those gunshot pop tunes some do on their 335i, but again I think its just the right amount of noise on this car.

Performance: I did not hear many people talking about this but for me, my butt dyno definitely feels a nice surge in low to mid range torque which surprised me as I was not expecting to feel any power difference. Kinda like if the throttle response has been much more responsive, if that makes since. It makes me have to feather my foot even more on my DCT S3 setting which I like.

For me, adding this mid pipe to my oem exhaust has made it so I don't think I will be adding any axle back or downpipes anytime in the near future. Its plenty loud for my taste.

Also I made a quick video on sound clips after install as well as some footage of auto talent's shop and their amazing cars. If you wanna skip to the sound clips of this exhaust just fast forward to min 2:59. Let me know if you live in OC/So Cal area and want to hear the car in person before buying one of these mid pipes. Have a great weekend.

I just did the VSRF single mid pipe and I love it. I have a non ZCP but in efficient with the valves closed it is barely any louder than stock but when with the valves open in sport and sport+ it is much louder and deeper but not obnoxious at all. Once you are up over 40mph or so you don't hear the exhaust as much either and it's a good combination of engine noise and exhaust. It feels like this is what the car should have came like stock.

Have you noticed that there is much more exhaust note in first and second gear and then it quiets down once you get to third?

Yea mine is also louder in first and second because from what I can tell that's when the valves are completely open but then they close. My next mod will be a valve controller to leave that sucker open

Interesting, I may try to unplug my valves again and see if there is a difference. Only problem is that cold start is pretty damn loud with the valves open now lol.

I'm thinking of doing the same but I've heard the rasp becomes nasty. Shouldn't you pair the single mid pipe with resonated catless DP's?

I purchased a product, used it, shared my honest feedback, also made a video.

I posted this so a potential buyer can see if the info in my post or sound clips of the video helps them decide.

If you already have this or don't care about it just move along This is not for you. :

Does anyone know if the bootmod3 exhaust flap settings change anything with them closing in 3rd gear and up? I unplugged again but I don't know how long I can go, might need to get bootmod3 just to delete coldstart as well.

Yaya, paired mine with the MPE and it sounds really good. Cold start sounds straight piped if you put it in gear and drive neighbors probably hate me or love me, either or depends on who you ask

I'm not a huge fan of the burbles so when I got my tune I didn't want any burbles that didn't happen naturally.

I'm really glad I posted here, after unplugging the flaps again definitely a noticeable difference in 3rd gear and up. I didn't even consider it was the flaps as I thought in sport+ they would stay open. I thought it was just something with the engine or gearing that caused it to have less exhaust note in the higher gears.

Yea not for everyone. And Some people deff do abuse them and make them into shotguns. But for me this amount of noise Is acceptable.

I don't really have anything to record with that picks up the sound well, unfortunately.
Phone doesn't do it justice

The MPE is different than the ZCP exhaust right? I need to search for an OEM exhaust thread there are way too many different ones lol.

Yes it is. MPE is a $4000+ exhaust with a titanium muffler.
