Article lists every difference in good detail.

I agree the gt3 cup car is based on rs version, just like I think the M3 race car is based on the retail version. But there are very significant differences between the race cars and the street cars in both cases. Quite honestly, just listening to the video you posted, you could hear a lot of the differences between the two cars...it was kind of of funny that the reviewer didn't really address that.

Enjoy!

P.S. GT3 RS is street legal. Is the GT3 cup car?
V6? the reviewer does address the sound. Watch again and enjoy

Force of habit, I meant six cylinder. And the sound difference he noted was in the transmission. He didn't really address how/why the engine and exhaust sounded different.

You can post smiley faces all you want, the fact is you claimed something that wasn't true. I totally love talking about cars, but only so long as the conversation stays honest.

Patroneverowned or driven a 911 I'm guessing the links don't work but if they did you would see a 911 GT3 RS for $212,900 and two others above $170k. Or for about $200k.

S.Hasan546's links? They are working great.

Kidding...
In all seriousness, you posted links for the gt3 rs 4.0 (according to the vehicle description) which is priced differently from the 3.8L version. S4AWD was claiming the 3.8L is worth $200K+. S.Hasan546 posted links that showed otherwise.

As much as we have argued, I actually enjoy these kinds of conversations.

If you want to resort to petty name calling...cool with me. I'll still focus on the argument and not on the person.

i totally agree. But the price is $130-$180k. Not 250k. big difference.

Want one from a porsche dealer & only 2000 miles? sure here you go. $177k

You were saying? I can show you overpriced cars for 911 turbos as well. That doesn't mean people get anywhere near those prices or that they actually sell them.

Yes but that $180k was $145k 8 months ago! I'm going to the auctions in Scottsdale in a few weeks and will see what crazy really is.

and thats when the 991 gt3 was announced not to come in stick. That doesn't mean its going to appreciate another 80k. Even at exotic level thats a lot. It took the Ford GT years to do that. Face it, prices have stabilized.

god forbid Porsche after a year or two announces a gt3 "special edition" in stick that they charge $30k more for, the 997 gt3 prices will plummet.

Regardless, buy the car you want to drive. Not the car you want to sit and watch appreciate. I doubt anyone on this board is rich enough to worry about collecting cars and having them appreciate.

Ahh but I think you can drive and still watch it appreciate! The 06 and later S2000 bought 3 years ago are a perfect example. I just looked and I paid I think the 1M if bought 8-12 months ago w low miles and driven 3-4k miles per year in 2 years will be worth $65k.

i know i did great on all of my "fun" cars.

bought the 07 s2000 in 07 for 28,500. still worth 20-22k (30k miles)
bought 1M for $56 (msrp no markup) selling now for $57k (so basically just cost me tax, drove 13k miles)
Bought my 09 exige in 02/2012 for 50k. worth over 60k now (3k miles)

its actually cheaper to own/drive rarer cars than it is to buy a regular bmw.

Check this out. It is a pretty slick way to look at values- no idea how truly accurate it is but interesting.... It will be interesting to see where this goes after barret jackson and the crazies there as the Ford GT is just the type of car to do crazy money at that auction.

Look I even used Paragraphs.

Its the redbull and vodka that makes me want to use the new Hipster AP Forum format. I may paint my wheels black next (actually I am Italian so they already are)

You really don't know a car's long term "value" until time has passed and newer models come out. Like S.Hasan546 said, the gt3 rs is accruing value now, but if porsche decides to make a newer, faster, even more exclusive 911, you could see the gt3 rs value flatline or even fall. Same principle holds true for the 1M. A few years of market history is not enough to predict how cars will sell in the future.

And since when are paragraphs considered a "hipster" trend? Starting in grade school, my teachers told me that was the proper way to write.

Unless.... My teachers were hipsters! I've got to warn the students before it's too late!!

Jesus just when I was starting to warm up to you... Sometimes like the 993 Turbo, Turbo S or c4s for example when the new cars come out it makes the old ones more valuable.... I am talking about collect-ability and merely stating my opinion that certain cars, made in limited numbers, that are unmolested sometimes go up in value.

The only car that BMW has that competes with Porsche's GT3 in desirability is the 1M. Used prices reflect it. I'm still kicking myself for not going for one when I had the chance
