Works perfectly, see image for alignment.

My e92 has a sunroof.
How difficult to hang it from a long arm RAM mount upside-down from the sunroof would this be to get video with driver inputs in the frame?
Hopefully it auto-rotates and self spot-meters.

What? Your e92 has a sunroof? You're car is worthless...

Ha. Mine is jet black and has a sunroof. Can't even give it away.

So you'd have a second camera like a gopro behind all that recording it? Because you can't use the camera input from the Catalyst. The Catalyst camera has to be oriented in a specific way in order to miss the hood and record the full track width, it uses a neural net to process the edges of the track to record where you're positioned across the track.

Four track sessions today, first session didn’t use it.
2nd and 3rd sessions I used it but it wouldn’t save the data at the end of session.
So make sure you format the included memory card before trying to record a session, you will get an error at the end of the session trying to save the data otherwise.

4th session every thing worked great. In quickly reviewing the recording, the software allows you to view your optimal lap from all of the pieced together sectors during the session in my case. Really cool.

I jumped a curb during one lap, turns out that is the fastest line.

After the last session recorded, I now have sector and lap times for the two previous session.
Maybe different memory being used?

But I now can see data from all three sessions but only video from the last session.

Overall this thing is really COOL!!!
I have a bunch of ideas for tomorrow, hopefully it will be a dry track.

Great feedback so far! Are you able to export all of the data and video into a format that can be consumed by Track Attack, Race Render, etc.?

I haven’t tried, I’ve just been super happy to be able to review the track session quickly on one device and know what was working.

I also know I’m just touching the surface of what is available.

Thanks for the write up, curious if you tried the audible real time feedback?

Yeah. I am using the video and sector times to find which lines are faster just do to small variances in entry position to a corner and speed. It’s expensive but you can rewatch your sessions immediately.

My main goal with the Garmin is to gain faith on some 90 to 100 mph curves that I unicorn once in a while, I’m trying to figure out my entry speed and how much speed I carry through the corners on a great lap. This means my car is quite capable but I back off.

Some of my fastest laps are chasing others or running from friends and your less aware of your entry and corner speeds. These are usually some of my best laps, so now I need to know what I was doing.

Other part of the video is understanding the traffic situation during the lap. On my fastest lap this weekend I had to wait on a point to pass even though it was full course passing, so I know there is more time to be gained.

I also had problems with it not saving anything. And no coaching on track at all although it was turned on. I did format my card, didn't help for me Also did a factory reset. Nope. Have some videos here https://www.youtube.com/c/magnusthome-rejsanu/videos

Did a 3D printed clip to be sure it's held in place in case of a track off. Don't want risk stuff flying around in the car. Cheap easy fix so.... There's a vdieo on it at the link above.

Suds, MagnusT, are you installing an additional SD Card? I can't find an option for formatting the built-in SD card.

I ordered one since one problem theoretically could be that the included SD card is faulty.

But isn't the option under Settings - Device Reset - Format bottom memory card?

That’s the issue being the first to have something. There will be teething issues.

Garmin will sort it out though. They always do.

I have not added a second SD card, I have bought one but I haven’t installed.

I’m using the included / installed 32GB SD card. I went to the gear symbol on the right hand side of the display and hit that.
Hit device reset and under that is format memory card.

After this the previous lap times showed for failed sessions but no video is available. But now the whole system works and the missed session data is available. So the track data must be saved on the 16GB internal storage while the video is stored on added SD cards.

Ugh, well then that totally misses what I would want to use it for then. I am in the camp of absolutely disliking any video/data combo that doesn't show the driver's inputs. Was hoping it could be oriented in a way to get driver input in the video but I guess I'll stick with spending the money on a SmartyCam if that's the case

I'll be using a helmet mounted camera for that I guess.
