Do 315s Fit in the Back?

I have an F82 that is a track-only car plus driving to and from the car shop . I am looking into getting ET44 18x11 and ET25 18x11 EC7 wheels per the recommendation from my shop to run 305 squared. However, A052's do not come in that size. It only comes in 295/35/18 and 315/35/18. I've seen some people saying 315's fit in the back so is anyone running 315s back there? I was thinking running 295 in front and 315 in the back. The APEX fitment page doesn't list 315 as possible.

If not, should I run A052s 295 squared or switch to 888R which comes 305 squared? I used RE71 in the past and A052 and love the A052s so far so I would love to stick with them. Even though it costs more everyone has been saying they last a lot longer and perform better.

Forum member fanatic1 runs the Nankang AR-1 295/315 setup, on those wheels. However, I believe his front camber is around -3.5. Not sure how low you can go there without rubbing. Suspension particulars of course will also impact this.

You gotta send a PM to Jimmy over at Signature Wheel BMW and ask him for advice. He'll steer you right, and for free. The guy is a fitment master. Tell him your car, springs, toys, and intended use.

I’ve run the A052 in 295 on the rear of my Apex 18x11 ET44. I’m “guessing” you could run a 315, but this tire runs fairly big and the 295 was right at home on the 11 inch wheel.

As mentioned, have run Nankang AR1 in 315 on the rear on the same wheel, but this tire runs smaller.

Note, all of these are 30 series and have since switched to 10.5 rotatable square set up. The 295 A052 fits on a 10.5, but it looks like it wants 11.

Pictured here is the same 295 tire on 11 inch GT4 wheels on Gabe’s F80.

I inquired about this with Apex a few months back. They said depending on the tire, you'll be at the limit.

315's fit fine. I've run Hoosier R7 on the Apex 18x11 and although tight, it fits fine

My favorite is still 295 square though

You also have to factor in camber setting. Just because one car runs the same wheels fitment with wider tires, doesn't mean you can also do the same. A052 section width is the same as non-BMW Star MP4S. I wouldn't run 315/30/18 A052 if that's what you're referring to. 35 sidewalls are better on 18", so 295/35/18 rear is more ideal.

Below is our SV103 in brushed aluminum mounted with 305/660-18 Pirelli Slicks.

Thanks Jimmy for using the beast for your post to show our fitment check out @bmwm4race82 on insta for more details on the build.

We have run a lot of variations from street tyres to semi slicks and slicks, my fav combo is staggered, with a 295 or 305 on the rear and anywhere from 255 to 285 up front depending on tyre choice. Seems to work better than square for the platform unless you seriously update the suspension and weight of the car

Love our signature wheels, speak to Jimmy he will sort you out

It's a bummer that there aren't more 305/35/18s out there.

I assume you run a 295/30/18 and not the 295/40/18?
Do you think the shorter sidewall of 30mm is sufficient?

On my E46 M3, when I raced in different series' that had tire width restrictions, sometimes I was forced to go to a shorter sidewall. It honestly, was a bit of a bummer, so I'd love to maximize sidewall as much as possible.

So the Apex guide just mentions that 315s rear should fit depending on tire I believe.

I want to run AR1s this coming year with this setup:

18x10 et25 front
18x11 et44 rear
M Performance HAS suspension
3 to 3.2 front negative camber

Will AR1s in 275 front/315 fit no problem?

I've been running 275/305 NT01s for years, and would go that route if AR1s were offered in 305, but it's either 295 or 315 on a 18x11 rear wheel.

Recently picked up my track set in the same specs. Currently running AR1s with 275/315s and so far no issue. I am on stock suspension with springs though so my fronts clear. I think you may need a small spacer up front to clear the MP HAS. My rears have no issues but I haven't taken them to the track yet so I'm not 100% sure.

ok nice.

respond back if you take it to the track as I'd like your feedback.

I am aware about spacers up front as I do run 3 or 5mm spacers up front but forgot to mention that.

I'll have track feedback after the 12th next month when I take it to Buttonwillow. I drove in the city and freeway once to work to see if anything would rub and so far no issues. Checked for rubbing when I swapped and didn't notice anything either

AR-1's at track temp may have enough grip to have your oem suspension hit it's bumpstops in corners. If that happens, grip goes bye bye. Just a heads up.

Yes with ease. I ran 295/315 on my M4. Just sold them to another m4 owner too.

Yes, 315/30 fits fine. I've seen it on a 18x11 ET37 wheels with some camber.

295/30 on 18x10.5 ET16
315/30 on 18x11.5 ET44

so I posted before that I have:

18x10 et25 front
18x11 et44 rear

and now everyone is saying that 315s are perfectly fine out back.

so the new question is, which front tire size is best with a 315 out back? The larger, the better?

are there any advantages with going with a 275 versus a 295?

I'm looking to go with an AR1 staggered setup FYI.
