Impressive specs. I expect a healthy price increase and higher collision repair costs with all those carbon bits. It will be exciting to see one on the road in the near future.

Where did you see that? I just re-read the first page and didn't see anything about fake speaker noise.

Edit: nevermind. Just saw the links for Car and Driver and Motortrend first drives where they say it does have Active Sound. Oh well. I'm out.

Edit 2: waiting till tomorrow for update on this.

About Active Sound:

We asked and were told by one of the engineers that there was absolutely no artificial sound feature, but others have written today that the M3/M4 will use the speakers to amplify the sound. A request for clarification is in at BMW and we should have an answer by tomorrow morning. Will update everyone.

is the HP DIN or SAE? because they quote the DIN German protocol HP on our E92s at 420HP....??? SAE US as 414...

Here are some ball park stats that I read long ago...may give some perspective if they are close to being correct...

For every 100 LB lost equates to approximately .10 in the quarter mile.
For every 100 LB lost equates to approximately 10 Hp.

So this is equivalent to approximately a 35HP gain or .35 second decrease in the quarter mile. So 12.6 DCT = 12.25 and MT = 12.45 quarter mile.

Which the 2008 Corvette which was approximately 3250 Lb and had 430 HP - could go the quarter in 12.3 approximately.

I said it's going to be an awesome car, but I still prefer the V8. Not a fan of FI but I guess that's where all cars are going

How much does the E36 weigh?
Just think about a rectangular shaped torque curve and smile.

Is that with all other fluids as well as 90% fuel ?
Also, I assume that doesn't include the optional carbon ceramic brakes that should reduce the weight by atleast another 30 pounds ???

Get rid of the M3. I personally love the 1M and the 7.

Okay so that is DIN Unladen correct? I believe that is what BMW uses to advertise weight in the US.

The extra 10% of fuel would add roughly 7lbs in weight.

Wow, amazing that they actually managed to shave off over 400lbs. This is huge! That car will be amazing to drive.

I predict 0-60 in 4.2 and the 1/4 in 11.90.

Anxious to know this as well. C&D was probably making an assumption based on the current M5/M6, but seeing how Active sound received lots of criticism from various outlets, perhaps BMW ditched the feature?
