Great post ersin!

One thing that i want to correct.

1. the 9500ci just received Band segmenting and RDR. Which will put it ahead of the stir plus, but you have to use LI for the jammers.

from my understanding the 9500ci is now the top dog, but the LI is not as good as the ALP. Hope this helps

I never owned a laser detector or radar jammer. How many tickets do you guys get a year to justify $2k? In the State of KS, I just have to pay double the fine to convert 1 ticket per year into a none moving violation. I never saw values in these units as it would be too late to slow down if the cop already clocked me. Am I missing the point.,?

TX have similar rules for clearing tickets. I lived there before.

Not yet. Actually I would say the 9500ci is now on par with the STi-R+, at least the radar detector part (until we see how it really does). Pair the STi-R+ with LI and they are the same. But pair the STi-R+ with the ALP and you have close to equal radar detection, but better jamming.

Cheers.

That's a valid point. I wouldn't want to spend more than $1,200 on the system given that it'd be another $300 for the install. For me, I guess the peace of mind is worth a great deal. When I decide to open the car up (on an open road, of course), I could be looking at more than just a monetary fine depending on the cop's mood. E.g., if I get caught going 20 MPH over the speed limit and the officer decides to charge me with reckless driving, I'd prefer to just avoid the situation altogether. Granted, I rarely drive like that, but it goes back to the peace of mind philosophy.

EDIT: Oh, and this is for laser jamming, not radar jamming. The point is that when you get hit with a laser, it's too late (i.e., the cop already has your speed). For states like Texas where laser jammers are illegal, the idea is to jam the officer's laser to buy yourself a few seconds to slow down and then allow the officer to get a read on your speed to fool him/her into thinking that you do not have such a device and that you were not speeding (tap the Mute button twice to disable laser jammers for one minute on the 9500ci).

I don't have much faith in laser jammers. A friend of mine is a cop and I used to have the LI - Installed in front bumper of my e92. If he shoots at bumper or headlights it definitely jams the laser, but it only took him about 1 second to realize he can aim at roof of car and get a reading of speed. Maybe the first time the cop experiences this you'll get away. But any cop with experience can still beat the jammer.

I won't argue with this point, much. It is mostly true. However, I have picked up scatter of the laser from cars getting targeted in front of me with my V1 several times. Usually, when this happens you can see the LEO and if you're paying attention then it makes no difference if the laser detection went off or not -- you already see the LEO before you're targeted. But I have encountered on more than one occasion, the laser alert going off from scatter from cars in front that have been hit by laser around the corner. That is to say, this would be a save from laser. And all from the V1 laser detection alone.

The point is that if you have good laser detection (I think V1 is one of, if not the best) and are paying attention (like you should), you can even the odds a little bit with detection alone. However, I would not depend on it.

Cheers.

I definitely agree this, as I picked up laser scatter on one occasion. Unfortunately, most of the time my detector picks up laser, it's because the officer is pointing the laser gun right at me .

Check out the (relatively) new update from Escort that enables the following on the 9500ci:
  • Ka band segmenting - The ability to enable and disable certain frequency segments of the SuperWide Ka band.
  • RDR toggle - The ability to disable Radar Detector Rejection false alert filtering.

As a former LI user myself, and someone who was obsessed with laser jammers, I completely +1 everything 3er said.

Question

Nick,

Where can you find the newest generation 9500ci at wholesale price? It is safe to buy products from places like this? Need to install into my car.

Nick mentioned in his video (or somewhere) that he haggled with his BMW dealer for that price. That's likely your best bet.
