F82 m4 slipped rear got damaged

Hello this is my first time posting on this forum. I was driving the other night and it rained that night and my car slipped and started spinning and hit a curb pretty hard where my control arm broke and my right side tires got damaged and a lot more. I would like to know how bad the damages are and how much it would roughly be. Thank you in advance.

At the very least, price up new wheel + tyre + rear control arm.
But get a workshop to inspect that, in case there is more damage. Hopefully the control arm snapped before that damaged the subframe.
Maybe the shock too, not sure if a side impact to the wheel could bend it.

edit: Yeah that axle probably too.

If you have insurance (and you should), it should cost whatever your deductible is. I know nothing about cars, but it looks like you messed up a whole bunch of stuff.

+1 Start a claim and get it to a shop.

+1 as well. It *looks* like there are a number of bent items and i'd want to get the subframe checked as well.

Hopefully it's all suspension components and just replace/swap in new stuff but i'd really get it checked out. Otherwise you're playing a guessing game of things that are hard to visually assess.

I'm with these guys. Things add up pretty quickly especially with the M cars. Figure 1500 for wheel and tire minimum plus suspension components and you're looking at around 4-5k with labor. Insurance will go up but not by 5 grand.

It is about a 15k minimum, unless you damaged your rear diff, also! If that is a case you are looking in the 20s!

It depends on which Insurer you go with. I did a quick google search and it say insurance will go up to 50% but that vary. I remember Geico offers accident forgiveness for "first time" accident?

It definitely would show on Carfax.

that some impact to bust up the controls arm on one side.. that a lot of damage once the insurance company has someone to reassess the damage and see what else needs to be replaced.. this damage is about anywhere form $15k to $25k.. the only option you have to replace all the components and check for frame damage also.. the car won't be the same if it has frame damage...

Good Luck.

Keep us posted.. I wonder what your wheel looks like?

Bummer OP jacked up his car but you should really have this looked at by a shop before you start throwing parts at it and asking the Internet to help you fix it.
Perfect example of why you should always inspect any car regardless of the Carfax.

Garage List
2019 BMW M4  [0.00]
Chiming in as I had something very similar last year when I unfortunately, ran out of talent.

The major components I had to get-
  • Rear Axle - $1.9k
  • Final Drive Assembly - $6k
  • Output Shaft - $1.9k
  • 666m Wheel - $1.2k
  • Control Arms - $700
  • Drive Shaft - $6k

Major Components Total- ~$17,700 not including all the miscellaneous items like screws, bolts, and a bunch of other stuff.

Dealer quoted me- $23k in just parts minus labor. With labor, it was looking at ~$30k

I am really good friends with the owner of an indy shop and got the whole job down to just ~$18k

This is just my experience, but I feel you can use this as a worst-case scenario reference as you may not have damaged as many components as I have.

The parts and labor pricing will also likely vary as I got quoted in November of 2020 in the Seattle area. Hopefully, this gave you some helpful insight, and I can empathize with you on this, it sucks but you'll get through it!

Do the insurance claim. You should be out a $1K deductible max. Get it fixed and have fun again.

People have insurance and make hefty monthly premiums. Yet, when it comes time to use insurance for the purpose it is supposed to serve, they are afraid to use it because their premiums would increase. What a jacked-up system, the rich (corporations) sure know how to fuck the middle and poor classes pretty good.

I'm thinking it's not the insurance increase more than people not wanting the accident on the carfax report. That's the general feeling I get reading various threads on here.

Idk…but this is fix is not going to be dirt cheap. Plus, is that an ethical move to make? Probably not.

Lol I don't think anyone that's hiding accidents is ethical but they still do it.

I know someone who smashed into a curb when sliding and had like 20k+ worth of repairs done. This shits no joke, I rarely turn off tc now even in empty areas, it's not worth it to me. Hurts the value of the car too if you make an insurance claim as I'm sure it'll come up on Carfax, I think my friend had frame damage from hitting a curb somehow
