Thanks for the kind words. This was my first road trip with the M3 and no place better than driving through Yosemite with its winding roads and climbing to 10,000 feet.
The M3 performed flawless. The steering and suspension was so balanced that I was able to go through most of the twisting turns without having to braking much except for some slow cars and RV’s. My dad was bit neverous with the turns and my driving. Living in San Francisco with really bad traffic, I rarely had an opportunity to enjoy the M3. I was a bit concerned that high evevalation would result in a sluggish performance, but I didn’t need to worry. There was plenty of power to pass on single lane roads and was able to hit 100mph in a blink of an eye when my dad was napping. I always thought the ZCP seats were a bit too hard, but they were surprisingly comfortable. The ride was much better than anticipated. The roads were really smooth and a good stretch of the highway was freshly paved. Definitely much better road condition than in the city. The 20” rims had me a bit worried about pot holes. Overall, the M3 performed very well and got a couple of thumbs up from drivers. I averaged 21 mpg on the 500 mile trip. Being able to switch driving mode on the fly made it very easy to switch between efficient and sport mode when stuck behind a long line of slow cars on a single lane road. The trip was just overnight and I spent close to 12 hours driving, but enjoyed every minute of it. Oh yes, the fall foliage was in full bloom and breathtaking. I wish I had another day. I am definitely looking firwa d to go back next year. |
