Individual ED order
I'm working with BMW of Manhattan to order an individual f80. Here's whats in the order sheet so far (pending bmw approval)
Individual Exterior Paint Individual contrast stitching color Individual interior color Full Merino Leather Competition Package Lighting Package DCT Harmon Kardon Rear Shade I see that ED price for the car is 60,325. Is there any more room to negotiate after the options are added? Also I was told if i don't do ED the price of the car would be full msrp, that just sounds like a sales tactic to me. Thanks everyone! |

They are trying to force you to do ED? This doesn't make sense

You can certainly negotiate on ED orders just as you can on US orders. I would suggest you negotiate the pricing based on invoice + $XYZ (or - $XYZ if you can) before getting into Individual options.

I don't think ED alone would cause the delay. The delay is most likely because of all the individual options. And yes both ED MSRP and US MSRP are negotiable. The ED delay will be the re-delivery. From personal experience and reading what others have said here, Some dealers seem less willing to discount the car for ED than for US delivery.

If it's a color BMW has never done before then there could be a significant delay as they figure out the paint process for it. Whether you do a ED or not, you shouldn't pay anywhere close to MSRP for either. Keep in mind, ED MSRP is not a discount at all.

How can the price be 60,325 with individual paint, stitching and leather? The paint alone adds 5000.00-10,000.00 to the price, depending on the color. Plus what if the color you want is denied and you only have a choice of colors you don't like. Then you can't get your deposit back? I'd go somewhere else.

BMW's color pallet, totally custom, dealers is not going to keep that on their lot. It could be the worlds ugliest color and no one wants it except for one that didn't pick it up. |

Common for individual. Dealer doesn't want to get stuck with a car that ends up welded to the lot.I had to pay a large deposit too.

The push for ED doesn't make sense. Do these guys typically do ED orders? I ask because for non-M cars, ED orders are not taken from their allocations. In other words, they can sell as many ED orders as they wish regardless of allocation. But, M cars DO come from their allocation. Maybe they think it doesn't?
The deposit is steep, but not unheard of for a high dollar ED configuration. However, your state laws may actually negate the non-refundable bit. It sounds like they're not comfortable with this order for some reason, like they're unsure of your commitment. |
