They want you to buy it, sure...just not actually use it. The energy spent might alleviate the urge to wring one of their necks.

My wife loses her marbles with all packaging now. To be fair, she has a point. Gone are the days where you can mainly just rip anything open and immediately start using it. Now, it comes encased in plastic that will not tear, ziptied down, sometimes with screws too just for good measure.
Lol, this is a continuing topic here too.

Finland has the best recycling system in the world basically. Our family produces 140 litres of non recyclable waste for seven members, two dogs and a rabbit in total per month. That's my aunt's and our total. Per month.

In the USA we had a waste basket of a 280 litres taken away per week.

Our shopping or our needs haven't changed, if anything they've gotten bigger. The eu standards for wrapping shit are just that much stricter and since those are on companies and not on consumers, that actually cuts down on the waste.

Simple shit but oh so good for our daily lives. I fucking love it!

I also have to say this: I haven't ignored what you told us about your wife's working arrangement but I just universally think I'd agree with her in most shit. I don't think you need a pep talk and she as sure as fuck doesn't. You should think if you could work a week from home a month, you know split the time. You working a week from home, and three from the office and she doing the same.

Mind you, working hours might be weird. I still get a full day in on my hobby money, I do most of my sleeping these days around 8am to 11 am, fuck if I know where I'll schedule the "fucked up kids, mom needs alcohol " next but with all honesty, and from coming from me this is trump huge, DON'T miss out.

we need better lawyers around here. Apparently our Canadian, Mr Myz did only state we shouldn't strangle but mild considerating is allowed. Approving my parenting in any way is never good.

Three pints in, and I still feel like I would like you to triple check the law books for me. Above this post somewhere is the latest entry from my bat shit insane family. I don't think you can find a chapter where that's okay, but a five second rule applies to this globally, right? I mean, it's okay to close my eyes and dream about some mild strangling for just a bit? Apparently not where it comes to receiving blenders as a combo birthday and Christmas gift though...

If it helps you to come around any, it was a pretty fancy (and costly) blender. And I still have all my parts firmly attached.

Ironically, she's lately been cursing the plastic bags our milk comes in and threatening to go pick it up in cartons instead. I thought you'd appreciate that. I still like the bags. And they are cheaper.

It's the taste. Milk needs to be sheltered.

After that important point, I would like to point out that I think your balls will end up in that blender, it was that bad of a gift. How was it wrapped btw? The answer could cause you extra pain so be mindful.

You pay for every piece of wrapping you spend time hauling around even before disposal time comes around. Guess why I love your wife now?

In all seriousness, I'm a Nazi on all waste too. I support drinking from a cup without a straw and I don't buy shit where I'll be paying for the plastics surrounding it.

I'm one of 7 billion but just wait till I get drunk enough to tell you what the other girl has been up to(be a rebel, you'll raise rebels.). Your wife is right so stfu

It was two Christmas' ago, so I can't quite remember...I think I might have left it unwrapped in the cardboard box it shipped in, but probably I found a bow somewhere and taped it on top to make it look like I made some effort. Or maybe I wrapped it. Can't remember.

The important point though is that she loved it. Loved it. Uses it a lot actually. So there. I rock.

Might even consider another appliance next Christmas. Been getting good use out of this one.

She has actually been making noises about how much she hates our current dishwasher. Do you think a dishwasher might be a good gift idea for next Christmas / birthday?

The KitchenAid mixer is the gift that keeps on giving. After the initial purchase/gifting, you can keep on giving great attachments......

There we have it Dodger. We have proof positive from Lupsie that appliances and attachments to them would make good gifts. The reason I am so confident of this, is her dire warnings above to the contrary. See...originally when I contemplated the blender, she had many dire warnings that I would be fed to the blender (or at least certain parts very precious to me) if I got it as a gift for my wife.

But she was dead wrong. Dead wrong. So...given she has maintained her stance above, I think we can reasonably assume she is still wrong, and therefore we ought to do the very opposite of whatever Lups says. This likely is actually a life lesson that may very reasonably apply to many other things in life, and we should not consider its scope to be limited only to the giving of gifts. A good rule of thumb if you will.

Which means....appliances and their attachments make great gifts for our wives. And I'm serious about the dishwasher...I just might.

Our neighbors dishwasher caught fire last month. So there is the safety issue also, if it's more than 8 years old......,,,

Oh fuck off! I'm almost always right or somewhat less so!

Mil called today to ask specifics on some processor the kid needs. I told her the story of my last few weeks and she almost had a stroke before I got to the end.

I guess she won't be getting the new computer parts she "can't live without" anytime soon and maybe grandma will stop spoiling her so much for a bit too.

I frequently get yard upkeep gifts from my wife and her side of the family. Revenge is sometimes best served gift-wrapped.

I have a few walls and here and there's to do inside the house and everything outside the house. The good news is that now you can see the house since I spent a weekend deplanting (should be a word) the garden. I'm in for a world of pain this spring.

The old case ain't dead yet.

1 month mini trial 2.5 years ago with the ancient lawyer from hell (now gone).

then 4 months of trial last year (which went really well).

NOW...1 more week of trial later this month (Because the other side just. can't. let. go).

That should, hopefully, at last, end this. maybe. god willing.

For any Dickens fans out there, Jarndyce v Jarndyce ain't fiction......
