That looks really nice. How hard was the install? Do you have any steps on the process of remythe old emblem?

Fantastic choice. Definitely a must do and upgrades the interioe 100X!
Quite the top seller for F8X interiors for us. Plus, they don't scratch as easily so they last longer.

I did the same to my F82. The little details really add up. I just wish the damn thing wasn't so expensive for such a small piece of plastic.

I did the same to my F80. Found a video on YouTube where the leather just comes off but it doesn't on mine for whatever reason (2016 F80). Had to pull the old emblem out, strip the wires, and solder the new ones in place with a very small amount of space. Then, I yanked on the cable and realised that it comes right out if you just pull on it hard enough. Haha. Looks super nice now.

So instead of removing the seat trim and leather from the seat back you could theoretically just pry out the emblem from the headrest and tug the wire to brake loose from the zip tie? Hmm….

These emblems have been redesigned so that you don’t have to unplug them by opening the seat. You now cut the cord, crimp on a new connector and can plug in within the headrest. I haven’t installed mine yet but looks simple enough.

Part number 52 10 9 503 039 (they come individually so order 2)

I did see that extra connector in my packaging. I was able to remove the old emblem but can’t fish out the old female connector from inside the headrest. I ended up removing the seat cover trim. This was easier than expected.

I'm about to tackle this emblem replacement soon on my F83 and was wondering if disconnecting the battery is necessary? I did not see it mentioned in here. I wanted to check first before doing it then have something go wrong.

Just did this as well, didn't disconnect the battery.

Did some splicing since re-wiring the harness vehicle side seemed less than appealing. Removed the connector before realizing I didn't need to.

Not yet. So far I just lifted the headrest. I just want to see what my options are at this point. I will let you know how it goes.

Well, I was able to do this on my F83 this past weekend. Overall I'm happy I got this done. It took longer than I had expected. The most time-consuming part was opening the headrest to remove the emblem and connector. For some reason, the passenger side headrest didn't have any slack to take it out of the seat, so I had to follow the OP's link on how to remove the leather. Once I unclipped the cable, the headrest came out. I also followed the steps to open the headrest, but that was a challenge. Every plastic pry tool broke during the attempt to open the headrest (ended up with cuts from the broken plastic trim tools). I was able to pull out the cable, but fishing it back through was a pain in the ass because the opening is so small and trying to fish the connector in the hole was a pain. I was able to get it back in but during that struggle, somehow the connection wasn't secure, and the light was intermittent. So when I tried the same method for the driver's side, the wire came apart. So at this point, I figured I had to open the headrest. I ended up using a flathead screwdriver and that worked. Once the headrest was open, positioning the emblem and connector was a breeze. Also, I was able to reuse the existing connector housing for the silver emblems. Just remove the pins and swap them to the black emblem. Both black and silver emblems have different connector housings.

I don't know how the installation is for the F80 and F82, but for the F83, the most time-consuming part was figuring out how to open the headrest apart.
