I was looking to have cold start gone for this reason, so I could eventually get a loud exhaust and it starts not so loud. Looks like that theory is gone.

cold start with valves open and catless DPs is pretty crazy. Sounds amazing don't get me wrong but makes you kind of feel a little embarrassed to tell you the truth. Ill stick with my routine with valves closed and driving right away, super silent

So do you lose the option to scroll through the displayed functions of the onboard computer by doing this? I'm thinking that the control takes over the usage of that particular button. To change the viewed settings you'd have to remove the unit?

No, the module features take a 2 second press to activate the feature, the original features of the BC stalk are an instantaneous press of the button.

Nothing is lost in features.

Button is not impacted, just have to hold it a touch longer and that activates the action

You don't lose any OeM functions

Well that's amazing. I'd do it for stock cold start elimination alone lol it bothers me that much.

This does not eliminate cold start, but users (such as GOLFFRR) have reported quieter startups on cold mornings.

I gotcha. It's not eliminated totally as in the revs are still high, but the actual over the top loudness seems to be significantly reduced with the closing of the valves. That is enough for me!

significantly for me. You can open and close the valves and start the car and immediately put it into D and drive off and there will be no cold start from my personal experience. Give that a try and you will be good to go

but if you close the valves and let the car idle at cold start (which is not recommended by BMW) then your car will still have the cold start but it will be a lot quieter then if you just let the process happen. ill try to video it somehow this weekend to show OEM cold start vs valve closed cold start

I ordered this device from EAS last night. I have stock exhaust (for now), but with the valves permanently open. I really like the sound at all RPMs once the car warms up...so much better than the stock "auto" mode. But I cringe when I start the car at home in the morning--and especially in the parking garage at my office. I was just about to reconnect the valve controls before this little gizmo was announced. Can't wait for it to show up in the mail!

Does anyone know how I'd pass NYS Inspection with Catless DPs?

Would I have to swap for the stock DPs every year?

Probably not if it requires readiness.

Nice thing in GA is you don't need emissions for 3yr on new vehicles.

Yeah thats really nice. Every year here in NY.

When I had test pipes on my E92 I had a tune to delete the CEL, but it wouldnt ready the inspection computer without switching to the stock cats.

Yeah it sucks. Then people say "go to so and so, he'll pass anything" and I'm like ok...this seems sketchy.
