For instance, I found a 2017 M4 6MT, 27k miles with Comp, Exec and Driver Assistance Plus packages, carbonstructure interior, and a few carbon bits. Three owners and minor accident on Carfax. Listed for $53k. Both NADA and KBB value a few thousand less. I am interested, but even $50k seems high for a car with MSRP at $79k.
There isnt a short supply just inflated prices. Short supply was on new cars. Frankly after going to a bunch of dealers recently I think the supply problem is gone and they are milking it.

My local dealer has 5 M340i and 8 X3 M40s on lot.

When I talked to my dealer his thoughts were not that the supply is short due to COVID, but that the demand is high. A lot of people in this price segment still have jobs, now working from home, getting bored and buying cars.

Regardless if it is supply or demand that is driving up used car prices since COVID, do you feel those increased values are reflected in NADA/KBB or do you think they are showing a more accurate pre-COVID value?

In my example above, 2017 M4 listed for $53k at dealer with a NADA/KBB value ~$50k. Reading this thread has me thinking that vehicle should would be mid-40s pre-COVID. Thoughts?

Not saying the dealer would sell for mid-40s, but want to make sure my possible offer is not completely out of bounds.

This is why I am not buying now since the price will go down once the G80s hit the showrooms.
Other than the ugly front design, G80 will have a keyed crank hub from the factory which is a big plus!

In March during covid, I acquired a 2018 Imola Red ZCP M3. 6000 miles, Fully loaded except for full leather. It included, M performance exhaust V4, carbon exhaust tips, splitters, lip, diffuser, dct carbon trim, deck spoiler, M HAS suspension, alcantara center armrest, alcantara parking brake boot with carbon handle, carbon steering wheel trim, brake pedals, carbpm dct shift knob cover and cs steering wheel. After market items are side skirt in carbon, fab speed midpipe, carbon seat backs and IND painted front reflectors. This car had all the M performance parts you would want on an M car minus a few things. Car was ceramic coated as well $64000.

I dont have access to Manheim anymore but pulling an MMR there is the way to find out the real value and what dealers are paying.

This is probably useful for someone so... In late December my dealer showed me MMR screen for 2018 M4 17k miles, 6mt, full leather, exec, 19" wheels... NO comp pack, no accidents... $49500 (for popular colors like white)

Then he changed the color to orange and the value went down to $48500 (my car was SO).

They actually offered me more than these values so I took it instead of selling private since the tax credit on trade made it essentially the same as what I was trying to sell it for.

I found a 2019 M4 comp black/black with 24k miles listed for $62k at Encinitas BMW. Car only has the comp package, with no executive package or blind spot. Southern Cal car. 7/18 built and was purchased on 2/19. Non-CPO. You guys think this is worth pursuing or just a waste of time? This should be priced between 55-59 right?

I got a $91k msrp, 2017 with w/ 22k miles.. loaded, 10k alone in cf trim, for 51k with 1yr certification. They said 49.5 without the cpo. That’s consistent with the wholesale number above. A 2019 might add a few grand. Once you get within 1-2 grand I don’t think it matters. If it’s the right car there’s no harm in paying up. But the wrong car for 2k off... that’s harder to live with.

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a 2018 F80. Ideally it be a Comp model with Exec package too. I know the market is crazy right now due to Covid and I am seeing prices on crazy ranges from mid 50s to mid 60s.

I just wanna know what's a decent price to go for as I am seeing some of you finding some in the low 50s.

what's the current wholesale on these now?

thanks!

What is the consensus on whether used F80's will drop in price after Covid is over or when we m3 hits dealers?

I've been watching the pricing on use vehicles and once Covid hit it seemed like prices on used in threes increased significantly.... cars it would've been in the mid 40s or maybe high 40s are now mid-50s... $10k bumps ... at least that's my subjective observation.

I have noticed a couple cars dropped substantially and price recently on cars.com which is got me wondering if we're about to see a drop in price on these things??

Prices do seem to slowly be coming down. I think you'll see a bit of a drop over the next several months as more 2018 leases come up as well as the G80's start to come in. Wholesale prices of cars in general have gone steadily down now for months, but retail prices have remained up. Seems like dealers are still trying to leverage the high prices out of the gates, but more willing to reduce after a month or so on the lot.

As the supply increases the prices will continue to drop. I wouldn't expect prices to go down as fast as they went up, but I would expect continued softening.
