So I looked at a c8 today.
hey everybody,
I checked out a c8 today and man it looked interesting... would like some input from you guys on reasons not to sell my m4 and pick up a 1lt haha. Currently the benefits of the m4 off the top of my head are: -we know its reliable long term -the BMW community is unmatched -I already love my car and just got it -its a Corvette and I'm 18 so not really looking to get into the "old man" type of ride -the m4 can also fly under the radar much better while still being fast -4 seats vs 2 better for college all thoughts are welcome tell me if I'm crazy for considering getting rid of my beautiful m4 for a chevy euros |

Better to keep the M4 while you're going to college, C8 is a great car but are you ok with the 2 seats insurance rate? M4 is a perfect car for what you daily drive and school.

I will say while I had one the "old man" car or "douchy guy" stigma did bother me mostly because I am old... but not diaper wearing old like most of the guys I saw driving them though. He man if you want a corvette and you can afford it ( and like attention ) I say go for it. But that C8 1lt can't be any less than 80-90K right now they don't sell for msrp used or new anywhere that I know of. so damn! good for you if your really 18 !! wtf? wow. |

I'd enjoy the m4 droptop in college. I had a 4 door in college & got the m4 afterwards and I wouldn't have enjoyed my sporty sedan in college the same way if it was a 2 seater because you're always going out with friends between classes to grab food etc. since you're a car guy I'm sure those type of drives are therapeutic, honestly food runs and coffee runs from campus in my fun car at the time (not anywhere near an m4 but still fun) made my college experience much better. I can't imagine what an m4 drop would be like.
Also I think it's also worth waiting for the c8 to drop in price (used) so you can get one with low miles. Idk if you wanna learn the hard way what happens when you buy a car with 0 on the odometer. I think the c8 is insane and worth buying but in your case I'd keep the m4 |

It’s such a strange looking car imo. I am having a hard time
with the way it looks, qtr panel to the back. Like it’s 2 Different cars. Doesn’t make the d!ck hard like the c7 zo6. Meanwhile the track versions do look the business. As I digress if you have the means, and the money, do it. |

Weird ass looking car.
No manual. Legendary Chevy reliability and service. Sellers want waaaaaaay over MSRP, I thought the buzz behind these were they were supposed to be affordable? Meh. |

I'm guessing if you are 18yo and cross shopping an M4 vs C8 than insurance costs are not really a worry. What would be a worry regardless of financial means, would be points on your license. A Corvette being driven in a "spirited" fashion will garner more attention than an M4.

Corvette is a full on single purpose sports car whereas M3/M4 is more practical sporty do it all car. I'd stick with the M4 and get a corvette when it's a second car.
Squeeze a few girls in the back of ur M4 while girlfriend rides shotgun - check Add a bike rack and go mountain biking - check Blend in everyday traffic and avoid the LEOs attention better than a corvette - check Less problems scraping driveway entrances - check My two cents |

Go for it. You're only young once. As long as your responsible about it and don't let people egg you on to do dumb stuff.

If you want to upgrade from M4 then you have to go Porsche route imo.
I have not driven the new C8 but drove C7 Z06 a few times. Not a fan of the driving dynamics or inputs vs BMW/Porsche. Although those cars have high HP, they are setup more as GT cars to cater to the client base. I prefer more raw, direct engagement with a “sports” car. |
