Mdm intervention difference between suspension modes?

Hoping you guys can settle a debate for me

I own a civic f80. I usually keep my setting sport across the board with mdm for the street.

I was telling a friend how obtrusive mdm can be and then we got talking into better tires and such. Talking about if I hit a little bump at speed and can feel the car pull power .

He was telling me I should be keeping my suspension in sport + so rebound is super quick and mdm would kick in less or least push power back quicker.

I honestly couldn't tell the difference, mdm seems the same regardless of suspension setting

Unsure what is the logic of mdm and when it decides to intervene.

Base cars traction control just intervenes a lot. No suspension setting or traction setting is going to change that on the street. I can imagine MDM performing better on the track but I have no experience with that personally. Best solution is grippier tires. If you're on OEM PSS dump them ASAP.

Switched to 305 PS4S and the issue has been nonexistent now.

If you are running contis, even 285 PS4S will greatly reduce this issue.

As far as I know, there is no DSC/MDM programming difference associated with the different EDC settings.

If anything, I would assume the opposite of what your friend is saying, where Comfort could yield less interventions than in Sport+. In general terms, a softer suspension tuning results in increased overall grip at the expense of more sluggish handling response while a stiffer suspension tuning results in sharper handling response at the expense of less overall grip.

Thanks for chiming in. I figured you would be knowledgable on the subject

I figured your track of thinking. Figured that is why most people leave their EDC in comfort at the drag strip.

any traction setting intervenes too much imo. ive been driving with everything off for 2 years and the car is much more fun, quicker and more predictable. also note im tuned with boost by gear. less boost in first and second

Mdm stinks. Ruins the car. Even the euro spec
