"No Signal" Issue, Bad Headunit?
Hi All,
Recently purchased a 2015 M3 and the headunit was showing no signal. Radio plays, volume adjusts but no signal on screen and the idrive controller doesnt work. (or maybe i cant see what its doing.) In Any event, I am also receiving the following codes B7F8CB - CID- IMAGE DATA INVALID OR FAULTY. I've checked the connections behind the unit and everything seems to be ok.. Also I noticed upon removing the climate/radio plate the unit is disassembled slightly, top over off showing CD. Unit does make a little bit of noise and restarts very often. (every 30 sec or so) Does this mean my Headunit it toast? If so, can i purchase an identical replacement part basically "plug and play" replace? I researched ID6 and ID5 but no interest in the features Im not going to use. Thanks in advance! |

Hi,
You can purchase identical, but then you will need ENET cable to virginize and put OEM FSC (to activate navigation). Thanks

If your unit is missing the top cover of the headunit, its most likely done.
I'll explain most likely what happened, your top cover is missing and you have been using your HVAC recently and most likely condensation has dripped into your headunit. Since there is no top cover, it has most likely dripped/built up into your hard drive and who knows what else and now your headunit is in an endless reboot phase. You can pickup a used NBT on eBay for quite cheap , the headunit will need to be coded to vin + Fsc activation. If you need any assistance let us know! We deal with these retrofits every day More than happy to help! |
