Race Brake Fluid and Brake Lines
I used Penrite Race 600 brake fluid previously with the E92 M3.
Anyone used this with F80? I'm assuming would be similarly good for F80. Also - I put braided lines on the E92 - is this similarly needed for F80 or is there less 'give' in the F80 lines? (Note: I have not pressed the car hard enough or tracked it yet to assess this) |

Hey there, I'm thinking about the same thing. Have a driver training day / track day at Sandown next week. In my experience, Sandown is very hard on brakes with 2 per lap.
I have a stock F80 M3 with 15,000km and 18mths old so I assume on the original fluid. Wondering if it'll be ok? My internet research has uncovered lines not really required unless racing or VERY serious, fluid yes and better pads yes. Lots of talk about ducting too. I saw a nice kit for sale at Turner Motorsport with Pads liens and fluid but currently out of stock |

I was tracking the E92 M3 here in the QLD summer and after a 10 minute session on OEM fluid you could feel the pedal soften - indicating fluid heating beyond limits and perhaps starting to boil. Also - you could feel a bit of flex in the pedal with max braking - the give in the lines.
Changing to braided lines removed the small flex, and with the Race fluid I could do 20 minute sessions with no fade. All using EBC yellow pads. Once I track the F80 for the first time I guess I'll start to get a feel. Happy to hear experiences from others of course. |

Which track day at Sandown? Itching to get out after lockdown V4.
Your road tyres will limit just as much as stock brake set up. Unless you're running sub 1.24 at Sandown, I'd leave as is and see how you go, acknowledging you will need to manage either tyre or brake temperature. I run braided lines with RBF 600, RS29 and PSC2. I've just switched to Goodyear R but haven't yet run on track.

No braided, Castrol react dot 4, DBA rotors, Ferodo 3.12 pads, cooling ducts, Supersport Rs. My car went all sessions at TheBend recently on a 20deg day with no problems. I want more tyre (slicks) as trying to brake at the end of the pit exit line at over 240 is a balancing act to keep it off the ABS.

Thanks for the responses, I did the Sandown track day, the car was fantastic but the brakes were a letdown. Really had to manage them even then ended up with a long pedal some noise. Also now have some slight noise, must be due to some pad material on rotors, hopefully a re-bed will sort.
I'll now get the fluid changed and am looking for some new front pads. The use will be day to day driving plus 3-4 track days per year. What is the recommendation? I read about Pagid RS29 or RSL1, Ferodo DS1.11 Any recommendations? Keen for something that won't know the rotors around too much |

Did you want it to stop or not? Good pads will eat your rotors *slightly faster than stock pads. Ferodo 3.12 pads are the most aggressive pads you can buy to fit factory calipers, stock rotors will be fine if not cracked all the way through. Compfriction or Vsport for pads. But you NEED some cooling. Budget diy here:
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...hlight=cooling Just hose clamp the duct on the anti-roll bar for the track day. https://www.proflow.com.au/silicone-...meter-length-b Best value hose https://www.bunnings.com.au/fielders...e-pop_p4790369 Grab a snag while you're there |

OEM brake fluid, OEM pads. QR National. Cool day. Second session - pedal went to the firewall. Changing to 600 fluid.
Prior to that I was really impressed with the stopping. OEM pads are well eaten. |
