For what it's worth I bought brand new nt01's and ar1's and have ran them back to back on my home track where I'm a member. Despite the fact that the nt01's are 275 and the ar1's are 265's, I still ran faster times on the ar1's.

I'm a big fan of the ar1's and they're proving to last equally long as the nt01's. I'm even considering them if I choose to prep my car for tt4 next year instead of tt3.

The other tire I have on my radar is the new Goodyear EAGLE F1 SUPERCAR 3R which one of our local TT drivers in Texas ran them against Hoosiers and was about a second off his Hoosier times. Incredible!

The NT01 and RR share the same rubber compound. The RR's are faster when new compared to an NT01 due to the larger footprint (lack of tread). Assuming the same size, an NT01 at half tread depth remaining (when it only has 2 circumferential grooves) and an RR are very similar in performance.

Important to note is the difference in the the NT01 and R1. The NT01's like a lot of slip angle to reach peak grip levels, the R1 do not.

AR1's are fast and wear quite well. Seems like the new, modern NT01. I have experienced that they heat cycle out quicker then an NT01. I've often set fastest times on NT01's on the day I've corded them. The AR1's heat cycled out before they were done. AR1's sidewall is much stiffer so the turn in response is better and therefore you'd want to run them at lower pressures as well with them - ride is noticeably stiffer too.

The 3R's are very fast for a 100tw tire, but they also wear much faster then comparable 100tw tires like the NT01(RR) and AR1.

funny you mention the sidewalls, i'm back at the track after putting the nt01's back on and that was the first thing i immediately noticed! turn in was mushier, but jumping the curbs was a ton smoother with the nt01's.

i think i've finally understood that the nt01's like to slip a little bit and that's when they perform the best.

Looks like I never followed up on this thread, sorry about that guys.

The RRs aren't worth it. They are faster but MARGINALLY and you have to deal with tread splicing. I was only 2.2s faster at the Glen with RRs but that's including the AP BBK which definitely did more than the tires.

I'm running Hoosier A7s now - LIFE CHANGING. Not sure if there's a decent fitment for F82 available but sweet lord is this tire incredible on the Vette.

Running 315/345 setup on the Vette.

I've heard the same thing that the RR's aren't worth it. I'm now planning to do the new Goodyear 100tw tires. Supposedly compared to R7's they're about a second off those times which is pretty incredible for a 100tw tire

I'm willing to bet they're awesome. Even the 3Rs that come on the ZL1 are excellent but they wear so quickly.

+1. I run the 3R's, they're great. Not aware of anything equal or faster from Goodyear.

Ah, the 3R. They look promising just crap sizing for 18's.

They're fast, durable, and consistent throughout the session. Can really take abuse. Faster than BMW Cup 2 on my GTS.

Just 1 second off fresh Hoosiers, not sure about that.

As far as long-term wear, heat cycles, tbd. They're still good to go after 2 track days. Rears are in great shape (that's saying something with how the GTS moves around), front shoulders wearing but I don't have enough camber dialed in yet. I'll run them until cords like NT01 unless they heat cycle out.

Keep in mind most or all 3R wear feedback has been on the 1LE. That'll kill anything. 650 hp & tq, ~500 lbs. heavier than my car.

3R may or may not be a good match for the stock F8X dampers. Tire was designed for ultra stiff DSSV. Believe Trofeo R was their development reference point.

yeah i was a bit surprised by the results too, granted it was one (very capable) driver who had times at the same track for A7, R7, and 3R's to compare against. but the times are convincing enough for me to try them out for my next tire comparison! plus they play nicely for TT rules where i can gain some points by running a 100 tw tire.

let's see... i'll prolly get new tires in feb and do some comparisons to my times and report back.

I still like RRs. Tread splicing is only an issue if mounted incorrectly. After first heat cycle do whatever with them.

Fastest lap at NCM on RRs.

Getting back on track, what? You must be in a locked down state!
Shit, I’ve done 25 track days since June 2020 so far.
I’m doing 5 days at COTA this June.

I’m running square 275/35/18: RE71’s and Nitto NT01’s on BMW 513m rear rims this season on the M2.

Testing from my first time out with the 3r's and I went a full second faster than my nt01's and had another second to go with my theoretical best time. The 3r's are a legit tire.

I don't believe they'll last as long as nt01's though but for what I'll be using them for this is not part of my consideration.

Nice!
I've had 27 days since September 2020 myself.

I'm currently on Falken RT660's which I like a lot, seems to last longer than RE71R (i.e. not getting too greasy). Have used AR-1 with decent results and actually came across a great deal for a square set of used ones (only 2 days) with wheels for only $1500. Planning to try out A052 next but I've heard some bad things about them on our heavy cars, but I like to find things out myself.

Two weeks ago I was running the RE71’s at MSRH, started off at 26 psi warmish.
Tire pressure’s were 33 psi when I pulled back into the pits, tires felt just right with no tire fade. I ran 5 laps in a row lower than my personal best and the tires never got greasy.

No, we have had some late spring snow storms and I have not had time to get out. I just got suspension height and alignment updated, so now will just be about finding a time. Did spend a day out with RMBMWCCA AutoCross school and car control clinic as well.

I seem to have to drop down to 24/25 cold and get to 35 hot for any tire.
At COTA the RE71's get incredibly greasy, maybe not so much at MSRH. It's not a problem for me since they are discontinued now.

This last weekend I had my first experience with Toyo RR at Mid Ohio. Previously I had BFG R1 but on E46. I really like the RRs very good grip level, consistent and predictable. They really like to talk at least at Mid Ohio. As the season goes on will drive them at different tracks.
