aftermarket pads with retaining ears?

Hi Guys,

I noticed that the stock pads have retaining ears (see pic with red circles). When I got some ferodo ds1.11 pads they didn't have any ears on them and it looks like you can't really transfer the ears over. These help the pads stay put on the caliper and I notice that when I have the ds1.11s on the stock calipers they definitely slide/knock alot since the pins/spring don't really hold them in well.

Are there other race pads that have these 'ears' on them (PFC08, RS29, Hawk, etc..) for stock calipers?

Thanks,
Steve

Don't think so. The DS2500s do not have them and nor do even the M Performance sport brake pads BMW sells.

Are they not vibration dampeners to help keep break noise to a minimum?

That's exactly what they are.

Shame that aftermarket pads don't have them. Absolutely impossible to run any kind of aggressive pad on the street without squeeling like a pig.

I got some carbotech 1521 for street use, and it had these. The carbotech XP10/12 don't have them.

I broke one off by accident on the street pads, and did not notice any added noise.

Running DS2500 F/R on the street.
Noticeable improvement without any additional noise
Pad operating temps are spot on for street/spirited driving. Great pad for our type of vehicles

Planning on Swapping to DS1.11 for tracking
Such an easy swap and no bedding going between the two pad types from Ferodo
