G80-3 production went up in 2022 everywhere, thus also in the US... with the only caveat that Comp xDrive has essentially killed Comp RWD.

There was and is no pumping out after launch to build up worldwide stock like Apple; this only happens at the national level and depends on the importer and dealers.

ynguldyn is right.

G8x are selling WELL.

Or…..as humans are fickle, decided to buy the next new thing. It isn’t necessarily a bad reflection on the G8X just because somebody traded it in.

I'm no G8x fanboi, you know that already. And I believe in test drives and I know what I want so cannot imagine hopping from one car to another.

it's a bad reflection on the buyer but that is a different discussion for a different day, I agree with you however

me neither... test drives are key... and if you see the G80 facebook groups, 50% are posts about modding, then other 50% are about folks selling their car lol

Production started in Nov 2020. So about 1,866 units/month worldwide.

US gets about 40% of those, so there should be about ~22,400 units roaming the streets.

Guess the answer to where are all the G8x on the roads, they are sitting for sale on used lots.

I don't know but for all intents and purposes nothing points towards a supply chain issue.

In reference to F8x, BMW is producing the G8x at greater scale per month(worldwide). Roughly 300 units more per month. Even with the supply shortage. Who knows maybe they had plans to produce even more?

What is interesting the US is getting more 992 units per year than the G8x. According to PCNA, in 2022 the US market got 10,172(992 units) or 848 units per month. BMW has been importing about 747 G8x units per month to US market since production started. Could explain why I see more 992's weekly than I do G8x.

I've said it before in this thread that G8x production is not worse than F8x despite anecdotal evidence from various parts of the USA, but no one was listening. AWD and Touring have opened the flood gates, too.

They produce as many as they can. And M cars were really not hit by any shortages due to being so high up the profitability/image-making list. BMW deals with parts shortages by just omitting them from the options lists or simply delivering vehicles without them. 7er without seat ventilation? Sure, we'll sell that to you. At least in the EU.

What stops BMW from producing actual (M GmbH) cars are too high fleet EU emissions. That's where it financially strikes the company.

All this G8xvs F8x has me looking at used cars and I saw this monstrosity. I wonder if the seller knows that and is just giving this pile away:

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/1...-c1d0bf3d2bc0/

Big difference between this and the previous gen is that it was very hard for people to get such a horrible combination with the lack of options on the F8Xs. Now it seems like anybody's poor taste can be made a reality in a G8x.

Yea, wow. No Lasers. Probably doesn't have the exec pack either. But that press launch combo...yikes. I actually think, given who this new M3 is really designed to, the slushbox comps - especially AWD, will hold their value kind of okay in the near term. Almost nobody will have bought a manual. Then, at some point in the future, people will get over the ugly and realize the manual is really like what the M5 used to be and their prices will rise by virtue of people pining for an M5 manual.

Porsche did the same thing. People are finally receiving settlement checks related to missing options.

Wow that's awful.

$59k seems relatively cheap. If I were happy with the interior (I'm not...but... if I were), I'd buy it and wrap it something else. Currently it's one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen in my life.

It’s priced about right for a car purchased when the G8X first hit dealerships. It’s not heavily optioned either.

In this market I think $59k is a hell of a deal for that M3 with fairly decent miles and a full two years of warranty likely still left. If anything it's like $15k off what I think it should be in this current market environment.

It’s in a fairly undesirable color combination that won’t be easy to sell. That, alone, makes the reduction in price reasonable. That car will only appeal to a particular type of person.
