+1.

Nice iteration. Glad we got some professional input here. That new logo is such a eye sore.

my friend here was arguing with me that M4 track width is NOT WIDER that current e90/92/93 m3 track?
is that true?

sorry couldn't read all of the posts, so maybe I missed it...

The more and more I look at it the more and more I want it! I cant wait! I've been going back to this thread all day!

Ill be keeping the e46 for now and get into a new M3(depending on how they look) or M4 in a few years. Time to start saving!

Sadly, the f80/82/83/86 power train will be nothing special nor unique. Pretty much a souped-up n55.

Not exactly the same thing since as you say they change it constantly. A better analogy would be the 911, it has been the 911 since almost the beginning. Imagine the Panamera being called the 911 then the coupe being called the 913 or something. Exaggerating to make a point but that is why people are upset.

The M3-M4 change was an unfortunate outcome of BMW's broader move to name coupes with even numbers and sedans with odd numbers (also to further subdivide each series to include 4-door "coupes", e.g. 6 Gran Coupe).

Furthermore if the weight reduction is truly substantial it will also create a distance to the 435i that no cheap tune or mod. can achieve. I.e they will secure the specialness with the M3/M4 in one of the most important and coveted performance and fun to drive factors. This is important in the days of FI where power comes cheap and large to the standard cars.
Sir, you're a genious!
I agree with the above 110%!
Smart move BMW ///M !!!

I will guarantee that the interior won't feel cheap.

Other than the materials, the F30 interior LOOKS better than the E90 (doesn't feel as good, but looks better IMO)

Now if we take the Alcantara (1M) and the Carbon Fiber (E90 CRT), we will be able to have both of those as options in the F82. I think that the "colored" stripe will be replaced by an //M Tri-Colored stripe as well.

Carbon + Alcantara + //M = This is going to be a BITCHIN interior

I couldn't be happier with the color Aurum Dust, it's what I always knew Phoenix Yellow could be. Aurum = Gold in Latin, so we have "Gold Dust". I realized when I received my car that these newer body styles like the E9X and F8X look truly amazing with a bold colored metallic paint. The bright color and metallic flake show off the lines and curves like no other paint, especially when compared to Alpine White or Black where most lines are lost. My guess is that they have added some vibrant green to Phoenix Yellow and also a whole lot of metallic flake to achieve this new color. Looks like it will be stunning under both sunlight and shadow due to the extra metallic.

My guess is also that this will not be a standard color when this car is released. BMW has been bringing an E93 in Phoenix Yellow to car shows in past years because they know how well this color shows off this body style. I imagine that this is what they are doing here as well. If Phoenix Yellow did so poorly on the E46 that it was discontinued, and only 2 people Individual ordered it on the E92, we will likely not see Aurum Dust as a standard option. It will certainly be my own personal Individual option though.

Attached a quick comparison, although please DO NOT take this to be accurate. I'm sure Aurum Dust is JUST as difficult to photograph as Phoenix Yellow. This photo of Phoenix isn't even quite accurate but one of the better photos I have. As you can see, I have other pictures of my car that look exactly like Aurum Dust (bottom image).

Its not the materials. Its the design. Even with Bentley leather and Rolls Royce fit and finish, its still a poorly designed interior.

I love my e92 M3 but the aggressive lines on the M4 make the e92 M3 look soft in comparison, and it's especially helpful to see with like colors.

Other than the hood not meeting the grill, I don't understand all of the complaints. I think the e92 M3 hood is much more soft, but adding 2 black plastic [50% functional] vents make it amazing?

Request: Someone pshop in some vents and lets see how it looks. It's going to be more challenging with the M4's double rigid hood lines. Put up or shut up. Make me a believer.

It's funny, I saw the pic of your car and though "there's a pic where the new M looks right." The M4 is too long and reminds of the front end of a Z4 (which no one likes) and the back end of the last 6 series (which no one likes). I'm an M3 fan boy, and proud of it, but I am not feeling the F30 based desings. Maybe it looks better in person.

I've always loved Phoenix. I'm generally quite conservative on car colors, mods, etc., but if this Aurum Dust color is available on this car (or Phoenix), I don't see how I could pass it up. I drool every time I come back to look at these photos. Interested to see what the other colors available are.
