F82 Mirror Tap (Colors for 12v and Ground)

Hey DIYers -

Does anyone know on the top of their head the colors for 12v and ground for the rear view mirror? Just purchased a blendmount for a Uniden R7 on a 2020 M4CS.

I'd like to do this myself instead of going to best buy - any suggestions / help please?

I can't link it now, but Tommy L Garage has a video on YouTube showing which wires he tapped into. I believe those worked for me

The 2 wires are...

Solid Brown
Green w/ brown strip

Forgot which is ground... think its solid brown.

Hi, just got my r7, could you link me the the blendmount you used? Also, did you find any install videos/tips/write ups that were helpfull. thanks, also, did you/plan to install a dashcam as well?

100% useful - it's great for those cops running KA on the other side of the road so it points at them coming and then arrow back for leaving

If you look super closely, you'll see that I already have a blackvue installed right behind it

It's simple bud, you don't need a write up but I'll give you one:

- using a pry tool split the protective cover open behind the rear view mirror
- install the mirror tap (green/brown=12v brown=ground) assuming you're in a f8x
- zip tie it so it does not wiggle out
- install the cover back
- install blend mount

Thanks for the info. Another question, how did you go about installing your dashcam? Did you use a mirror tap, hardwired/ or external battery route?

Ran the power wire down the right side A pillar and the 12 to 5 V supply is installed behind the glove box.

The power is going to the fuse box in the rear of the car with a magic pro for parking mode!
