Simply having the sensor disconnected and tied out of way shouldn't trip the worn indicator, assuming the circuit remains closed.

Have you tried clearing the code with an OBD device?

If not, maybe just replace the sensor... non-OEM options from Rock Auto:
HOLSTEIN 2BWS0276 (rear) $ 8.87
HOLSTEIN 2BWS0277 (front) $ 8.87

If you simply zip-tie a good sensor to the suspension, it should not cause any faults.

When the sensor wears down, it cuts the wire inside the sensor end, which opens the electrical circuit. It is the open circuit that triggers the iDrive alarm. There is no way to reset this out electronically. If you are getting an iDrive alarm, the only way to fix it is to physically close the circuit by either replacing the sensor or by installing a "plug".

On my previous M4, I made "plugs" using worn sensor connectors with the two wire twisted together and taped up with electrical tape.

Cutting the cable and Twisting the two wires together should have worked then. Lots of YouTube vids on this topic...I now see. I must have messed up. I’ll try again.

When I tripped a brake sensor on my X5, my dealership reset the code after I had replaced the pads/rotors/sensors. Just replacing the sensor didn't clear the code. I believe any code-clearing tool would work, just didn't have anything at the time for my X5.

FIX FOUND...

The brake pad code must be cleared in the instrument cluster....same as resetting a Service Due type message....as shown her....

Thank everyone for your input !

Correct, once a sensor is tripped, the service indicator also needs to be reset. I should have been more specific.
