Don't settle if you don't have to financially.
I'm 38 with a 12 & 8 year old. I have played this game a few times now as my kids were born and grew into different childhood stages. If finances aren't the primary concern to make the swap then... Keep the wife happy with a family hauler that she likes first and foremost. Use that vehicle more if needed. That's the purpose of it. The utility and peace of mind in this is huge. Your kids are going to keep growing, your life is going to keep changing. Don't swap out just because you've talked yourself into or out of something. Buy next what you know (truly think) you'll be happy with for 7-10 years. Life will throw you curve balls and you'll be happy to have more equity in something when you NEED to make that swap. Starting over in building equity will slowly lower your vehicle every time you swap, therefore settling. Unless you're willing to pony up cash to even it back out. I did that once and will never do it again. |
