I'm hoping it's just a tuning "quirk" of the X3M and that the G80 has much less lag. I haven't driven X3M, personally, but from what I hear that low-end lag is turrible lol

100% you made the right decision! Every time I drive the M3P I go "Wow, how is it this good?"

The lag from a dig on the X3M is just laughable. I mean, you are literally neck and neck from 0-20 with Nissan Sentra's. Wish I was exaggerating. Using LC is close to impossible in the real world.

It takes 3 solid "Mississippi" seconds to build boost, otherwise it still lags. If you hold it over 4 seconds, the brakes cannot hold the car back. Useless!

Why give us AWD with an 8 speed auto and make the engine gutless below 3000-3500K RPM?

Unfortunately the lag becomes worse with a tune. Check out some of the dyno logs on the X3/4M forums. Car is making 550+WHP and still has almsot zero power under 3-3.5K RPM.

Per the logs, it actually became less powerful on the low end. It's an AWD SUV (SAV whatever)!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most people...in fact 99% of people who buy this are going to be daily driving it. Where is the low end torque?!

My 135i, X1 35i, two F80's all had that delicious low end torque. In fact, full torque from 1200-1500RPM. The only downfall was traction as they were RWD (minus the X1).

So now I got the AWD, plus ZF Auto (no DCT delay) and BMW took away the TORQUE

Should have got a TrackHawk like I was originally planning. Rant/

Damn I need to go test one out. The S55 was Awesome imo and traction was always more of an issue than any lag. Test driving customer cars after installing a tune I really feel the difference of the electric motor.

That’s old school like my ‘03 Wrx used to be and like my ‘03 911 turbo is!

But I guess in a 16 year old Porsche you can excuse it as old school cool but in a new performance truck it’s just a WTF move.

Maybe someone at bmw was told to tune a “competition motor” but wasn’t told it would go into an suv. Lol. That power deliver in a rwd 3500lb car would be ok because there isn’t so much pork to move at low speed, and the massive top end is drool worthy.

My $0.02, get a base model cherokee as your truck and funnel all your money to get a 2 seats all out car that traps 135-140

Can't even test drive a model 3p as DC has no inventory, they said maybe in a month I should be able to. So stupid that they can't even have 1 or 2 for test drives? The only 3 they have is standard which I got no interest in test driving.

How could there be such a lag from a dig but the X3M with a tune gets 2.9 seconds 0-60? What am I missing, something about this post doesn't make sense to me.

My comment about the X3M was more about using it as a Proxy for comparing with the upcoming G80 which the M3P would compete with. G80 should be much faster than the X3M.

My X3M Comp is not tuned. That 2.96 second run was done on an extremely aggressive E85 Tune, using LC. That's 140WHP over stock. That is no joke and extremely taxing on the cars drivetrain. Not interested in losing my warranty, nor do I have access to E85.

I don't use LC almost ever. If I floor my stock X3M from a from a dead stop (in it's most aggressive settings). It noticeably lags. The only way to eliminate the lag is too build boost for 3-4 seconds using LC.... not ideal or realistic.

I know the G80 will be quicker since it will be way lighter. My concern is not the power, it's the LAG. Which kills the fun.

Ah got it, that makes sense. Without LC it lags, that sucks then.

That's the great thing about the S55, certainly there is a hint of lag below 2k RPMS but it's hardly noticeable.

Totally different from my experience lol... they were so busy helping other customers that when I asked to drive the M3P they handed me the key to the one they had in stock, showed me how to adjust my mirrors and seats, showed me to to engage AP and told me to come back in half an hour.

Stealth wrap done. Andrew i know you had some reservations about the stealth PPF but i went with a ceramic coating as well, plus with a 10 year warranty against yellowing I'm not to worried. Looks amazing!!!! Tint is next then I'm done. Nice thing about this car is it is as fast as I would ever want.

Did the front number need to be removed to do the wrap?

Looks.. the same?

They removed all emblems and the carbon spoiler. Everything is re-installed with exception of the red underlined "dual motor" badge on the back. They said that one is to thin for them to reuse. It works great for me as I don't like a-lot of badging anyway. The place I went to specializes in Tesla's. All edges are wrapped and there are basically no visible seams, even on the front bumper and rear trunk. On Friday i go back and they wash it and inspect the entire car to make sure its good, fixing anything that needs attention. Very happy with it. The matte really brings out the pearl in the paint.

I was just looking at the x3m website and it seems like it has active cruise control + lane centering. Does anyone know if it is good enough to be an “autopilot proxy”
I test drove an X3M, the lane centering is ok, nothing like Tesla, for now. Then again, I suppose one could add this?
