Also, the M4 is a limited production run because they said they would give no more than 2,200 F82's the "CS treatment." They said that 2 years before the F82 ends production, am I right?
All the M3cs suspension components are “parts bin” (just like the M4cs). They likely did some electronic tuning tweaks, but the M3cs spent just a couple of months in development compared to the M4cs that spent over a year. They likely took what came out of the M4cs development and tweaked it for the F80 chassis. I am not sure what you mean by “went out of their way”, using base spring does not seem like a huge effort. Further, it has never been confirmed that it is truly a fact that M3cs uses the “base” springs.

They will make as many M4cs as they can sell, so it is not limited per se.

With that being said, I would love to turn my CP into a CS sin the cf hood(cost seems prohibitive to me) with a set of the cup 2s, suspension bits and software changes. Too bad BMW doesn’t offer a “CS upgrade package” for us that already own a CP to do so, they could call it the CP+ pkg. And I’m not taking about the difference in new car prices either but something priced to get as close to a CS as possible, as a value added product. I know I can do it on my own through a third party but that then would void my warranty I believe? Better drivability is my goal here not just speed, and the ability to keep my BMW warranty intact. Wonder if BMW will offer such a product as they’ve done before with other cars? Like they did for the N54 performance pack.

Many speculated BMW would do just that for “base” owners to upgrade to the Competition Pack and it never happened, so I seriously doubt it will for the CS. And I can see why they dont do it, they rather have you sell your car and buy a brand new one that’s got all the latest bells and whistles.

I suspect you are right on BMW thinking here.

I think we are splitting hairs. As an attorney, I cant differentiate the substance of what he is saying vs. what I posted above. It wont be a mass produced car is the point.

I am not sure were are. For me, a limited edition is pre-determined quantity. Whereas what interpret from the BMW head of development is saying is that they expect to produce about 3000 units based on anticipated demand. If you do the math, that’s 20-25% of the M4 coupe production during that period.

I guess hypothetically, if every dealer and every customer ordered their M4 with the "CS Treatment," they could produce as many as 12,000 (based on your math)?

Does that mean that #227 is my official production number out of 661 for North America - US and Canada combined ?
It's not official. It is your car sorted by date than VIN out of the 661 cars US/Canadian cars. That is the best production order # you can get really. Unless you got access to the full production database at BMW AG.

Unless you buy a Soviet designed model, it has a predetermined EOP. Using your logic, this would make all cars limited editions. I'm with CanAutM3, unless there is a predetermined number, it's not a limited edition.

Another issue is that generally BMW splits model into three types; RoW LHD, RoW RHD and NA. These types also have they own VIN range. So for example, NA cars can have a VIN range AA00000=>AA00500 while RoW LHD will be AB00000=>AB00500. This makes any kind of sorting by VIN impossible.

Keep in mind though, when BMW actually assigns a "one of X" number to a special edition, it is done completely randomly.

There were 9 NA-spec CSs built on that day.

It's #190 NA-spec CS sorted by date then VIN.

#227 NA-spec CS sorted by date then VIN.

There are no CSs ending with 1200

The M3cs is really an afterthought, were BMW saw an opportunity to boost sales for the end of M3 production run, particularly in the US where the M3 is more popular than the M4. They created the M3cs by combining some M4cs bits with some M3 30jahre interior bits. The only specifically designed component is the rear decklid spoiler. The M3cs spent far less time in development than the M4cs did.
Hey now I'm partial to my afterthought - but is it true M3CS is faster than M4CS because B pillar makes it stiffer?? Stiff is good

The M4 also has a B-pillar

The M4cs is lighter, has a lower center of gravity and has less drag than the M3cs, so on paper it is the faster one. According to BMW, the M4cs is 3 seconds faster around the 'ring than the M3cs (7:35 vs 7:38). In the real world, they are practically equivalent.

There is no M3 CS with the VIN ending in 09712. Also, 09712 is not a unique part of the VIN. You gotta post the last 7 characters.

Production number? No. Sequential number based on the date of production then VIN order? Yes.

Here is an example of the method of sorting that I do

VIN - production date

AA00001 - 2018-06-01
AA00002 - 2018-06-01
AA00003 - 2018-06-02
AA00004 - 2018-06-01

So the order would be

#1 - AA00001
#2 - AA00002
#3 - AA00004
#4 - AA00003

We only got 7. So that leaves 654 between Canada & US. All of ours have CCB and NO exec package.
