Not a damn thing. At least a lot of these loans aren't variable rates (hopefully) haha.

Your friend can try selling it to vroom, carvana or carmax. Hopefully one of them will offer you a price at or over the payoff amount. Good luck.

Carvana in my experience in consistently a few grand about the rest.

Extenuating circumstances can hit anyone. Do not default on your payments. Your best option is to transfer your lease to someone else.

Put your car on Swapalease right away. It's only like $100 to list but will be the quickest. I got rid of my 340i on day 2 of listing it, no incentives, process took 2.5 weeks. If you don't want to pay to list, go download SwApp from the Apple AppStore, it's free to list. Also try leasetrader but have no feedback since I've never used them.

I lost my job a few years back and the first thing I did was put my car on Swapalease just in case. Didn't end up transferring but IMO getting rid of a lease is way easier than selling a car.

Good luck man!

You might suggest your friend look into Turo.

Turo allows you to rent your car to other people, so if he rents it out for a week or so, I believe he'd get enough income to cover his monthly lease.

He needs to check with the lessor to see if there if he's prohibited from renting his car out, per the terms of the lease, but if not, that's one option.
