Suntek or 3M venture shield

Was wondering if anyone used the above paint protection film for their F8x ?

Would love some feedback...

Am looking to do a full frontal protection and perhaps the side skirts..

Cheers

Suntek full front clip

Buddy told me the Suntek has self healing and is super clear which it really is. You can't even tell it has a PPF unless you're up close looking for it.

that mineral grey? looking good.. but i guess with the film in place you can't change the grills or add in carbon lower splitter if you want to in future?

It is mineral grey. It's my on order cars doppelganger and hard for me to look at lol!

I would guess they cut around the grills and wrap under the bottom of the bumper.

You can still swap grills and add the CF part and lip. I would avoid using Betalink adhesive on the CF Splitter though as that will damage the film when you remove the splitter and will need to redo it. That's the only issue I see with the film.

Xpel is the cleanest, smoothest look I've seen, have the latest on my truck, light years ahead of some of the other films I have on other cars.

Please let me give a shout on this! I use a local detailer who uses 3M, he's done several Porsches for me and he's a darned plastic surgeon! On my recent M4, I let the dealer talk me into using Suntec. Self-healing?- bull, that's all marketing! 3M IMO is a far superior product, and feels much more durable. two other reasons why I regret using it. It was (maybe just this install) a kit, abad has a lot of breaks in the material and leaves critical leading edges exposed- my detailer always 'wrapped' the exposed edges. Two, after a drive, I could take Griots window cleaner (the spray for the inside windows, watery) on a micofiber and the bug debris would wipe right off. With Suntec, they don't want to come off, and I have to really scrape at them with my nail. IMHO- 3M 3M 3M 3M 3M!

Suntek looks the best in my opinion. It has an adhesive that is less prone to stretching and working marks. The topcoat is awesome as well.

Xpel Ultimate is the next best.
3m is way behind both of them in terms of looks. As a matter of fact, look around at the best installers all over the USA and count how many offer 3m ppf.

Because the installer's ability is so important, you can't compare two different installs unless they were performed in very similar fashion. A good installer can make crap film look pretty good and a bad installer will ruin any film.

I've used all of them.

Thanks. Looks good. Noted the edges where the film couldn't quite cover.

I was debating this for quite some time as well, SunTek vs. 3M vs. Xpel. A local installer here used all at one point, but highly recommends the SunTek. It also happens to be a lot cheaper as well. Xpel is almost double the cost with install.

The edge of the fender that meets the hood has a weather strip just inside the edge that does not allow wrapping.

I've been researching installers in the Long Beach or Pasadena (or in between) area trying to figure out what installer to go with and what product. Of the several I have talked to, only 1 recommended 3M products. It is coming down to XPel and SunTek. The latest I have been told is that Xpel quality control on their 60" roll films has been poor and this particular installer doesn't like taking chances that he'll get a bad roll. He recommends SunTek. I'm sort of at a loss now. On the flip side, I've seen pics of high end cars sporting the "big 3" films (3m, Suntek, Xpel) and they all look great. That said, the fact that again, thus far of the handful of installers I have talked to, only one has recommended 3M means that I'll likely remove 3m from the discussion.

All of the installers I have checked up on all have raving reviews on Yelp and blah blah blah... its some what maddening. It's hard to see a clear cut winner and unfortunately I wont have a ton of time to go around meeting installers with the car to try and determine that way - maybe we'll just flip a freagin coin!
