I don't understand why people must have the Michelins and waste money like this, just drive around with the Conti's and replace them with the Michelins after 10.000 miles.

You just have the fronts or a full set? If full set, I'll take them off your hands if priced right and shipped. PM me

Im just curious as I am leasing and my rears are starting to look a lil worn but I have found some stock rears through a tire dealer and will just be purchasing them... especially before it becomes too hard to find another set.
I got a flat, and had to replace the tire. And since i didnt want mismatched rears I replaced the other rear at the same time. The fronts are still PSS.

With a lease you just have to turn in the car with OEM tires with more than 1/16 tread left.

Correction - you need at least 4/32nds of tread left for lease return.

They don't need to be the PSS's.
Any tire will do as long as it matches the original speed rating, type (RFT or not), one of the original brands (Michelin, Conti), in original sizes.

Anybody else noticing that a lot of 2016 cars are coming with contis and not PSS?

Boggles my mind that they would even consider changing the PSS to something else. I doubt that the production for them actually stopped.

Recently tracked my M4 with stock PSS. Bad idea as they had 50% life left and completely chunked the front left on my home track (Clockwise Barber MSP). Therefore got a new set of fronts from my local tire vendor "BMW specific". They had the garden variety available yet had to order this BMW set which was brought in. It does not have the stretched look of the OEM tire despite same size. Rides well on street so no complaint and I have no intent of tracking these tires as I have just ordered track wheels/tires.

Where is the BMW specific identification on the tire?

BMW spec tires have a large star molded into the rubber sidewall about the same height as the tire size marking:

My Fiance's M3 has the PSS and tire warranty. Dealership says its backordered for god knows how long. One tire needs replacing but the car has almost 10k miles. What does everyone recommend?

Also, does the crappy tire warranty you buy when you sign the paperwork for the car cover wear and tear or only accidents?

Only accidents.

It's frightening how Michelin does not seem interested in keeping up with demand on these tires. They have been hard to get for years now. I would assume it's because every dam "sporty" vehicle comes with them now. So Michelin offers their stock to the manufacturer's way before us I would imagine.

I was in the same situation. I have the insurance too, and my replacement has been backordered since October! I fortunately picked one up off Ebay that was only lightly used. . . it is the exact match too . . . has the "star" even. Anyhow . . I got it $200 shipped that way, otherwise I'd still be parked.

The Dealership still has the order in so, I'll have a backup tire one of these days.

Loving my Bridgestones since PSS were not to be found, really can't tell the difference with daily driving. Will have these from here on out.

What happens if you put Porsche PSS on my M4, will it take an allergic reaction or something. Is there really any difference between the two tyres (Porsche and BMW). Surely rubber is rubber, I could be talking complete and utter rubbish here but my simple mind is telling me that there wouldn't be a major difference...if that. My tyres have still a bit if thread on them but if I were to be doing several launch controls there wouldn't be much left. If I were to change my tyres I would rather stick with Michelin as they were the tyres that came from the factory.

Just curious, has anyone used the NItto INVO on their cars, and if so what was the experience?

I too have the Tire Warranty.

just hit 9k on my tires. ( well sort of)

I have already had 1 front and 1 rear replaced MPSS due to nail in tires.

My question now is if I get a nail in a tire or worse something happens to two tires again.

I don't want to get stuck with 3 MPSS and 1 Conti

or 2 MPSS 1 front and 1 rear and 2 conti's 1 front and 1 rear.

SO I GUESS what Im wondering is b/c it isn't safe to mix tires.

would they just replace with 4 Conti's??

If so that may not be a bad route honestly. my current tires with 9k and good tread left but not great and getting 4 new Conti Tires with 0 miles b/c one tire got a nail/puncture etc. @ $50 per replacement for tires due to the Tire and rim Insurance 2 Bills out the door for 4 new tires not a bad gig.

This happen to anyone??? Thoughts ? Curious as to how they handle this.
