Aside from the fact that it is a simple numbers game, there will always be owners that refuses to pay +$100 for something they can unlock themselves. They said the S58 would be harder to crack and they did it pretty early when the X3M/X4M came out. For me, unlike hacking/cheating gamers, these unlocking things saves us headaches and we are better for it. I root for them.

Agreed on this and I actually think that it's a good reason to deny access to the newer cars - my main gripe is that they're completely screwing over legacy car owners which I'm sure is an convenient, or more likely, intended consequence. To be fair ISTA is out there and will likely never get scrubbed, but still, newtis was such a great resource for long term owners.

The M3 discussion starts at 2:22:48
Synopsis: Matt: E46 > E90 > E30 > F80 > E36 > G80 Doug: G80 is the best. E30 and E36 were underpowered. E46 and E92 were great cars but had big problems. F80 was too big. The next M3 won't have a stick and the one after that won't even have a gasoline engine. E90 and E46 are probably objectively the best buy but they have a lot of problems.

Besides bearings and throttle actuators, there really isn't anything major that the E9x M3 suffers from.
Doesn't rust and lose its subframes like the E46.

The simplest would be to keep the M4 and get a secondary electric for daily use but maaan how much of the driving joy is sound. Acceleration means very little to me as an overall enjoyment of a vehicle. That said I had my eyes on the F150 Lightning for a while but that looks like a 2023 at the earliest. |

Yesterday marked the second time the 135i has let us down. Water pump a few months ago, now it was the fuel pump.
Not a bad score for a 2012 BMW, though. Also, why is it that every 3 GT and 5 GT have their rear spoiler up when parked? Doesn't help with the ugliness.

. Farah was giving DD the benefit of the doubt as he let Doug articulate his ///M comments for sure.
DD is the analytical type around features and gadgets but does not “drive” the cars like the ST guys. Hilarious how they immediately agreed on the g80 looks - as they are completely different types of drivers. |

F80 is too big but the G80 is the best.
Ok……. I’ve had all generations except for the E30 and I prefer the F8x series to all by a wide margin. |

E9x was best for me, E46 was/is best looking & most desirable ... but that's probably because it was my first

It feels like that video is just... a bit baity don't you think? lol
G80 is bigger by far, it only feels smaller because of the tech in the car.

I like that you qualified "best". For me e30 is best looking, e36 is the best value, e46 has the best balance, e9x is best sounding, F8x has the best modern design, g8x has the best tech. They are all great wrt to contemporary rivals.

Keep reading, you'll find plenty of opinions. I think the reality is nobody really knows for sure yet - but anecdotal evidence suggests it's region specific. For example sedanclan has reported seeing quite a few in CA, although his profession includes a fair amount of driving. I live near DC and have seen exactly three between DC and the NY area, and zero at my local cars and coffee. My local dealer had a black G82 M4 for months before finally selling it. Another local dealer apparently sold four within a short span over the summer according to my local detailer. One thing for sure is the bulk of current BMW enthusiasts I've talked to at cars and coffee and at car club meets hate the new design… can count the number that even tolerate it on one hand.
