speed limiter removal attempt
hey all. tomorrow i head out to do ED. since i will have the car within ten hours, i will take my very naive skills and attempt to remove the limiter.
i will test it out, and if it works (or not) i will post here to get your recommendations. i will attempt to modify vmax

A friend of mine was gracious enough to let me play around with the coding on his F80 (I wanted to make sure I know what I'm doing before picking up my car and going at it blind) and I was able to find the section where I could change the Performance Class. I do remember that it was in the same sub-menu as VMAX but I don't remember what it was called specifically. I'm from Germany so I can read it all, which made it easy. If someone has a screenshot of the menu the VMAX code is in, I could find it. |

Help
Hey guys
so I'm in germany, and tried to do the coding. Followed the steps to: Change VMAX to FF Change TL (Top Leistungsklasse) to SL (Super Top Leistungsklasse) I get the codes, turn the car off, set the configuration, and apply. I get the following errors (attached). I just did the long haul from Munich to Nurburgring, and will be doing an all day training tomorrow. So any suggestions would help. I'll make the changes, turn the car off, and then re-read when it's on. Hopefully it will work. FYI, to be honest, hitting 155 is scary as all heck, so other than to confirm if this works (meaning passing the speedometer 160, which is what i hit) I ain't going to see what max is |

As far as the speed, you'd have to get to 170 or so to test it. Governed f8x's are still hitting 163 mph. |

I'm not sure if turning it off while being connected to the car interrupts the connection and is giving you the error. Since it's such a short procedure, just code with with the car in the on position but not running from start to finish. At least that's what I would do.

Keep in mind that this is just a guess of what the issue is. It's possible that you don't you don't have the psz files in the right location or they're not updated as well. Hard to say from a few thousand miles away. |

I wonder if these codes are protected with an FSC. Not sure how the two interplay but it would make sense if these are the codes that get changed when you get the M Drivers Package coded.
When you say you tried it with the engine off, you mean with the ignition on but the engine not running, correct?

Engine on. Retrieved code, changed code, turned off engine (with ignition on). Attempted to program code Ignition on, engine off. Retrieved code, changed code, and attempted to program code I tried changing the VMAX by the drop down menu, and then just changing to FF. Then I tried changing both. I tried changing the other setting to SL (by itself and with VMAX) |
