So you only shake that tree at people who don't necessarily like the G8X platform right? Would be willing to bet you do because if you shook it at those who are agreeable to the G8x your account would have been banned a long time ago.

Personally I'm really sad that this will most likely be the end of the M3/4 ICE era, and it went out on a blunder (seemingly) as it is.

The one thing I hope it's got going for it, is performance, but so far, it seems like it's only minor incremental increases and not an "all out" before the electrics take over.
Between a circle jerk and +140 pages of complaints about every aspect of the car, many of which are still unknown, you have a good amount of wiggle room.

It is guaranteed to be the end of the ICE M3/4 era, which is sad. I'm concerned about this one's weight, but wait until the next one!

The S58 does seem like an all-out attempt. The Stage1 tunes with 600whp and constant power to redline are a different universe than the S55. We'll see where the CS/GTS/CSL versions go, but it seems like they'll go quite high.

What seems to be over is the gravy train of free stuff.
Gone are the days you could buy a 70k F8X with a eLSD, magnesium oil sump, CF driveshaft, CF roof, CF strut brace, DCT, cooling that was indestructible, etc.
Instead, welcome to the days of paying for anything you get!
Around half the people in this thread all say they're going to the same brand. A brand that is happy to sell a $130k car that doesn't have a limited slip, and that you can easily add 50% of MSRP with 'options'. So I suppose these same people will not object to BMW giving the bottom feeders garbage and reserving the good stuff for the high end, top margin. Right?

People talk out of both sides of their mouths. Five Guys doesn't cut it and Ruth Chris is the only option for a burger... yet those same people apparently still go to Five Guys and cry a double burger is now $12, they remember 'the good old days' when they whined all day about the $8 Five Guys burger and how it was not at all like the $40 Ruth Chris one.

If you are the product manager for Five Guys, or In&Out, and all day you're dealing with people who say your burgers suck and they're taking their business to Ruth Chris... wouldn't the logical conclusion be to take your product upmarket? People are practically crying you aren't giving them the options to buy CCB for their hard parking at Cars and Coffee, that they can't pay $800 to choose the color of their seat belts, that your product is not exclusive enough... so you take it upmarket! But then of course most of the whiners were already struggling to pay for the $8 fast food burger, so if you actually go to $12 it's like the end of the world. In their fantasy universe they can afford the $40 burger, in the real one they barely scrounge up $8.

You must be new around here. I shake the tree all the time. I've posted a couple times in the past 147 pages, I have no massive love for the G8X.

In this COVID era world, I do appreciate the fact that the G8X generation came out and there is a colorful discussion around the car. Gives me entertainment while being trapped at home wishing I can do more car things with my beloved F80.

FWIW, does anyone know what it says on a manual F80 M3? The below is a manual as well.

I am too lazy to go downstairs to look.

So that would put the weight gain to right around 400 give or take which is what people were speculating. I will check my m3 when I get around to it.

In other unfortunate BMW Design news, Japlopnik has a piece about the 2004 6-series:

I thought it was heinous at the time, but now with the benefit of time, I realize it was only the nose and tail that were heinous, the side profile, ignoring each end, looks pretty good.

No that car is plain ugly.

So is the E60 M5 in my opinion, although the engine is absolutely monstrous.

I think in terms of overall beauty i have it.

F8X > E30 > E46 > E9X > E36 >>>> G8X

BMW hasn't exactly beautified their bigger sedans tbh, i think BMW is last in it's class historically for designing the 5 series and up.

Last pretty 5 series discounting the F90 was the E39 M5 slammed.

I personally find the M8 repulsing for the same reasons i find the G8X repulsing, in fact i loved the M8 when it came out and then started noticing it's side profile and i threw up.

I think Benz does gorgeous GTs or family sedans.

Obviously i want to preface that this is just my opinion, and if yours is different we can agree that you are objectively wrong? Sounds good?

Never cared for the E63 6-series, and I think along with the pre-LCI E65 its aged the worst. The E60 aged better. The best looking 6er is still the original, and the gorgeous GC, sadly the new 8GC couldn't recapture its beauty.

^^This. Saw a Singapore Grey M6 GC out and about a couple months ago, such a beautiful color too. The current 8 (along with the rest of the current BMW models apart from the 5 series) just looks soft and bloated. A lot of hot air about how it looks "so good" but I think it just looks meh for a BMW. Hagerty agrees too (honestly the feedback at the end of this video seems to encapsulate BMWs in general as of late):

Agree, the 6GC has the hard and crisp body lines, the 8er (especially the GC) is too soft and the c-pillar is chunky, whereas the 6GC looked thin and svelte.
