bootmod3 New Feature Release - DME Read (Backup) ***

Hey guys just wanted to let you know about a new feature released over the weekend. We've finalized work updating our DME Read feature available on the Diagnostics screen. Its a neat way to back up (read out) the DME and make the contents into a re-flashable map in the list of your maps, making it behave just like any BM3 OTS map or custom map.

Who needs this?
If you invested in a flash tune before, a custom tune or OTS, and you'd like to to go with bootmod3 to use its features you'll be able to back up the current tune as a map and be able to flash back to it at a later point if you choose to do so.

Our User Adjustables screen that's in the works will also apply to these maps just like any other map in the account, more on that here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1480183

Previous tune data that is backed up will not be editable or viewable and is simply a backup of your previous tune.

Cheers

Holy crap...if I'm reading this right, this a seminal, "have your cake and eat it too" moment. This will increase demand for the other tuners as well. They should be thanking you guys too, haha!

Why can't we edit the backed up tune?

My guess is because if they allowed that, then nothing will stop you from flashing BM3 OTS tunes (which are locked) but then you go reading your DME with this new feature and now you have an unlocked/editable version of their own map

On a side note, good job guys. Keep up the hard work

For compatibility, I asked Halim whether this includes program code and EEPROM, but his answer did not appear certain. I would have assumed it was just the calibration area if the tuner did not block OBD reading, but if you have a new exploit that reads everything like in boot mode it is quite different. I am altering program and EEPROM areas in development and need to know if it will cause users problems.

Logistically, how would it work if I wanted to flash back to stock, would I do the following:

- Purchase tune from tuner xyz
- Purchase BM3
- Save tuner xyz as a map using BM3's sweet new feature
- switch map to xyz tune
- go through process to flash back to stock via xyz tune

At least one tuner has said their tune cannot be backed up via this method.

I'm not sure, but I call BS on that.

E85 is tricky. Not all fuel stations are equal. Some are good quality and some are not.

With that being said. They do have E30 ots maps
