what's the deal with resetting TPM?
I received the warning last week and filled the pressure. I tried to following the instructions for reset. Pic shows all tires are green and around 27-29 PSI.
I cant get it to reset correctly. Everytime I turn on the engine, the same TPM message appears. Last edited by salraf; 03-07-2019 at 12:04 PM.. |

Is it for one specific tire each time you receive the warning? Could be the TPMS sensor going.

27-29psi is low. Follow your door jam recommendation but should be around 32psi all around. Once you adjust to the correct pressure, go to the tpms area in idrive and then reset it. This will need to be done while the vehicle is stationary. You will need to drive for a few minutes before it confirms that the system has been reset.

Also, this is why resetting the tpms once the tire pressures are properly adjusted is so critical. The green you are seeing is based on the tire pressure at the time of last reset. If the system doesnt know what the proper pressure is supposed to be then it will not function properly (i.e. if you reset the monitor when your tires are at only 27psi, it will use that value as the correct target instead of 32psi and not alert you until your tires dip significantly below that). |

I agree with above. Get to 32 then do a reset/calibration. If you are still getting an issue then take it to a dealer.
I see you are in my area. I recommend taking it to East Bay BMW if you don't already have a preferred dealer. They have always treated me A+.

I had a moment when I reset my tires. Fill up to 32 or your liking reset it and drive it for a few moments. it should go away.

My warning appeared out of nowhere - idrive shows each tire pressure at around 34 psi. My guess is when it last got serviced the dealer must have reset it at a much higher number?
I was hoping if I reset it now it should be fine since 34 is around the recommended level as per the door sticker? Have a road trip literally today coming up.... |

Use a hand gauge and set all to 32PSI cold. Reset TPMS in iDrive. Drive for 15-20 minutes. Check dash gauge, should read 33-35PSI after the driving warmed them up.
