Upgrade to M3 CS?

I have a few questions, I'm thinking of upgrading to a frozen blue M3CS. I was wondering if it's worth the extra money, and if it will appreciate in value or even just hold its value. Let me know your thoughts

Only around 600 were allocated for the US. What is there not to like aside from the obvious.

My opinion it will probably follow the same rate of depreciation as the base model and ZCP. If you want something to hold value get an E92 Lime Rock.

the CS was heavily discounted because they were sitting on lots. And most of the people who did jump into them only did so at crazy deals where they paid the same or a few bucks more per month than their base/zcp lease.

be careful with owning a frozen color though. they can be difficult to maintain.

No one knows. We've talked about this at length on the CS Facebook group.

Just about all special edition M's have been heavily discounted (minus the 1M) and dropped in value as normal once used.

It seems to take 5+ years for the market to figure out if the car is desirable or not (E46 ZCP, E92 Lime Rock, M2 vs M2ZCP (lower production numbers), 30 Jare, M4 GTS, Heritage Edition etc)

The M3CS will have the best chance of leveling off/going up if it does... with around 600 units in the US and only made one year... I dont feel the same for the M4CS with how many units have been made vs the M3. Just my opinion though.

The Lime Rock edition is only a CP with orange paint and stitching. There’s nothing special about it performance wise.

I sure wouldn’t buy a CS as an investment either. They are meant to be driven.

I would've paid a heavy markup to find one in frozen blue. From what I've seen, frozen colors in general seem to hold value better.

I know right? I'm lost why the Limerock Edition is even holding its value over regular E92's.

At least the M3cs has items different enough to be considered "special"

But yeah, any car that's driven won't be an investment, at least not this new, but time will tell I suppose. It's better to wait until the vehicle has aged at least 3 years when the value's mostly drop off, aged as in model year and not when the person picked it up. It will likely level off by then and would then be a great buy.

I don't know if it will hold value. Too soon to judge. I have a frozen blue M3CS, car looks absolutely amazing. I stare at it all the time in my driveway.

If you love the exterior of your car I'd do it because icon headlights + carbon fiber + frozen blue is gorgeous especially on 763m wheels very few sport sedan can look nearly as good

607 to be exact. There’s a sticky thread up top for reference on F80 M3 total production numbers. It’s probably well under 600 now since some had been totaled. Ask Andrae26

I'm guessing M3 is different from M4? MY 19 M4 CS trade in value by dealer is $60,000, which i thought was very low.

No, not for the next couple of years tho. Not even the GTS is holding its value.

I can't say it enough, BMW destroyed with the CS discount the F8x market for now.

Lease low as $7xx and cash offers somewhere around 85k for a brand new CS!

The CS won't hold the value, you will loose every day as on any other F8x.

If they revealed more of the G8x at the CS release instead of going the way of discounts, it may have been a very different story.

However, at least with the limerock edition you could choose a manual and BMW didn't delete random useful things like comfort access, dual zone climate control (while still keeping all the heavy climate control electronics in the dash), a center console arm rest all to "save weight". But yet they have heavy power seats and a DCT.

I think the CS looks beautiful on the outside, but BMW made some head scratching decisions on the inside.

Agree! Such a beautiful car but weird specs as you said!

No comfort access but leather dashboard

The deletion of the center armrest is mostly about freeing up elbow room to handle the steering wheel while driving on track. I actually find it very welcome.

The DCT is wonderful on track is the faster option. Too many people fail to understand the purpose of a CS.
