Not mentioned in Jason's original post was a little tidbit that was in the release letter under "BMW M" with no specific model mentioned:
M Drivers Package incl. Top Speed Increase and M Driver Training is now being offered at BMW Performance Centers.
This is apparently the package that has been offered in Europe and ups the speed limiter in your M car to 305 kp/h (~190 mph). Cost was €2,450 a couple years ago based on the posts I found.

I'm about to lose my upgraded M3 LED tail lights and go back to the standard on my ZCP M4.

I can honestly say I dont even remember they are there so while nice not a huge deal. The standard tail lights are 90% as good looking. Not like on the non-lci e9x where they were awful.

Oops, left that out on accident. Added into first post now. Thank you.

Personally, I don't get why people do either. But, there are those on these forums that love it, and have stated they'd purchase passive again (guess you can't now).

I guess it's for those that just think it's a good sweet spot and aren't the "I want to dial it in based on road surface" kinda people.
My E92 M had comp package so it came with adaptive. I never used it, and I live in DC where roads are shit. I just left it in one mode, comfort I believe. If passive was sport then I would've been fine with that. Personally I didn't care to change the settings ever, and certainly didn't want to shell out $1000 this time around for something I wasn't going to use.

Because it's now standard equipment. Having it as part of the competition package would be redundant...

I was just about to mention...3 pages in before someone noticed ///M Driver's Package is now available in the US as an option and retrofit for all applicable ///M Cars.

VMax Increases are:

305km/h - M5/M6/M760i

280km/h - E9x, F8x M3/4

275km/h - X5M/X6M, E8x Z4M Coupe.

Yea, agreed. Taillights, I'd definitely not wait for.

The only unknown is how easy it would be to retrofit the OLED's. Not sure if it's more costly and more complicated or not. Should only be a matter of time before someone tries.

Like many people here, I too am curious if iDrive 5.0 will be upgraded to 2016s. I feel like an update should be released at the very least. If not it's not the end of the world by any means.

175 is the F8x limit increase and this includes the US if 7ME is ordered or retrofitted.

Both include a voucher for M Performance School that must be redeemed for the increase to be activated. If the customer has previously participated in one of BMW's Advanced Driving Programs or is FIA/IMSA Licensed, attendance is not required but no monetary credit is given.
