BMW F30 F80 M3 / F32 M3 Spied for First Time!
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW F30 M3 / F32 M3 Spied for First Time! Exciting moment folks! We bring you the very first spyshots of the next generation M3. These photos show an F30 3-series sedan with several trademark M3 features such as quad-exhaust, flared fenders and drilled brake discs. We believe the next M3 will be powered by a triple-turbocharged inline-6 engine with an output of around 450hp. It would be based on the N54/55 engine and use not only two traditional turbochargers but also a third electric turbocharger. [Update: we've since received info that this has now changed and the decision has been made to go with another engine configuration. More on this to come.] [UPDATE 9/2/11: The F80 M3 sedan has since been green-lighted! See http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580641 for more info.] Scott26 claims that these photos are no indication of an M3 sedan making it to production. Rather, BMW had only an F30 prototype to use for testing the M3 parts and components. Don't count the F30 M3 sedan out yet however, as it's been alluded to that it may still be in the plans -- despite the rather slow sales of the E90 M3 sedan. That this prototype F30 M3 has wider fenders indicates to us that this is merely the F32 M3 coupe chassis/components being tested with a F30 sedan body. Expect the new M3 to hit the market sometime in 2014. As we reported earlier, the E90 M3 sedan will end production this October while the E92/3 M3 coupe and convertible will be produced through June 2012 at least. * Click on images for larger resolution versions Follow our full F3x 3-series coverage here: http://www.bimmerpost.com/3-series/f30/ Last edited by Moderator; 09-20-2011 at 10:17 AM.. |

I thought the triturbo was speculation? Will it have a larger displacement to handle 450hp?

Can't wait for this M3 to hit the showroom floors. Tri-turbo is just crazy.
I'll definitely consider buying it as my next car... 4 doors too! |

this is exciting.
I hope BMW brings back the M3 sedan. The fenders on that prototype look flared a little. Maybe an indication they have adapted the body of the F30 for it? |

Electric turbo? Come on now.
My M3 is coming next month and this looks like my very first and last M3 purchase. Looks like my next car would be a Porsche GT3 or Nissan GTR.

I am interested in finding out how much the electric turbo will boost gas mileage.
It would be very cool to have an M3 that I can flog that will also get me close to 30mpg.

You do realize that ANY engine will give you terrible mileage if you're driving aggressively, right?

Good news without question.
After seeing the lower front bumper(s) covered up so many times, it is clear to me now that having zero fog lights for cooling purposes is complete BS. |

Not feeling those side mirrors
Dont know if its just me but Im really not feeling those side mirrors. Looks to much Merc. One of the first things I fell in love with the E9X M's was the aerodynamic look of the the side mirrors...

Of course, thats not the point. The point is if I flog it now you get 12mpg, if I flog with more fuel efficient engine I could get 18-20. I would rather have 18-20 and 30 on the highway (which the M is no where near now).

If you look closely there are indeed holes in the camoflauge. That being said, I doubt they do a whole lot. A lot of high performance cars get rid of fog lights and replace them with better brake ducting...
