OP,
I completely understood your first post, and your point about how you are sympathetic about society's health but careless about those who currently have nice cars and might loose them due to COVID-19 hardship. You care about their health though. I ask why though? because you believe they were raised rich? Acquired their financial status or cars from mommy and dady money? Didn't earn their wealth? This is why people are upset, because you might have generalized everyone due to your past life. I am empathetic of your past life, I was in your shoes one day. Grandmother worked as a maid, mom took care of me and ill sibling, dad forced to leave us and his home country. Watched boys my age eat a full sandwich while I didn't have money for half. I came to America as a refugee and thought its over, I made it. Oh boy was I wrong, I didn't know the next 13 years would be harder than before, that I would live in public housing, and start working at age 14 for $1.20 HR to support the family. I can go on forever...... Its only been a few years that life finally gave me apples, it was lemons for the longest. However, it made me a better person and if I could, I wouldn't change anything of my past. Never forget your roots no matter how far you make it. Remember, you can loose it all, fast. When you get a chance, give back. Congrats on the cars and your success, ignore the comments about spelling. |

I had very little when I was a kid. We were dirt poor, then not so poor, then poor again and lost our home before I even left for college. My friends always had more money, cars, fancy things. I'm having "my turn" too, but you can come from nothing and still have sympathy for others. You came from a place of struggle, suffering. Don't take baggage, like indifference, with you. You'll go farther without it. Congrats on your new car(s)!

The cars in NY,NJ areas are often advertised well below book. They try to do the bait and switch and tack on fees to get you back up to book price by the time to walk out the door. Last year I found several F85's and F80's for astoundingly low prices it was worth to ship them to California. However, when I called about them, each dealer wanted me to visit them in person to negotiate. I told them was I was located in California, I was willing pay asking price and to have the car shipped, if it passed PPI but they hung on on me. One dealer mentioned my OTD price was going to be 8k higher before taxes (which put it back with typical retail prices) for out of state purchase.
My impression is that several of them are mom/pop dealers that target buyers with little or bad credit in hopes they'll be desperate enough to buy their cheap luxury cars because they're unable to get approval through big dealerships. I highly doubt the OP paid 34K OTD by time they were done with him. |

If there were two similar cars on paper, the price difference between a franchise dealer and a non-franchise dealer in NJ|NJ will be substantial. It actually puts private seller at a disadvantage because now you have to compete with a dealer that's theoretically asking for $6-8k below market. I don't even bother checking out non franchise shops here NJ.
