Ring Wear between Helper Spring and Main?

Hey Fellas
Removed my MCS front coilovers to wipe down, clean up well for some upcoming track days. See pics, this ring sits between the main Spring and lower helper spring.

I noticed this wear area where it's apparently gotten impacted by the threads of the damper....unsure how/why this would happen, but would appreciate any thoughts or opinions.

Thank you

Maybe the inner diameter is too small and with a little movement it is already in contact with the shock.

It's the same diameter as the lock rings, so that's probably it, under hard compression.

Guess I'll just keep an eye on it

Move the helper spring and coupler to the top of the strut. It moves unsprung mass, albeit small, to the sprung mass side.
