I own a 991.1S (last of the NA Carrera sans GT cars) and this year bought a Miami Blue 991.2S as well as a 718 Cayman GTS.

I nearly bought a GT4 instead of the 718 GTS, but knowing that new GT4 is coming I decided against as I am looking to either go for the 718 GT4 or grab an incoming 992.

In your case, I’d go with the GT4. I think the GT4 is more fun to drive than an F430 (good bit lighter, worlds of difference in suspension and handling) and IMO looks better even though the Ferrari will be a bit more of a head turner. The other reasons I’d side with the GT4 is the quality and reliability as other have stated.
I have a '19 last of the 991.2 911s coming in on order (still keeping my m3- I love it), how's yours been?

It should be a 2020 then right?

I love the car! It’s so capable and fun to drive. That said, I am excited for the 992 coming - trying to figure out if I want to do blue again or lizard green.

What is your spec like?

Great!
2019- it has arrived at san diego port and exited pdi, awaiting transport to dealership.
PDK, PSE, RAS, FAL, PASM sport, LED/PDLS, premium pack, sport chrono, 18 way seats, carrara white, etc. Your spec?

I debated getting a 992, but here are the negatives for me:
-increased size
-increased weight (nearly same as f80)
-nubbin for shifter no longer shifts manually
- clamshell spoiler looks like trunk is left open
-loss of analog gauges
-minimal increase in power
-interior looks plasticky
-silly door handles
-increase in price!

I think waiting til the .2 would be best, considering the hybrid may be coming.

I debated getting a 992, but here are the negatives for me:
-increased size only 1 inch longer but 1.75 inches wider with GT3 front
-increased weight (nearly same as f80) the S is 3382 and the 4S is 3400 both with PDK. The m3/4 with pdk are about 3700 lbs and don’t have AWD and all cars are gaining weight with things like particulate filters but considering how much wider the 992 is, not bad at all. There is still a 300 plus delta on weight gap vs an m3/4. The flat 6 is a much better engine and the new one will be faster than the outgoing GTS and likely be around 7:20 on the Ring.
-nubbin for shifter no longer shifts manually I like this. Same as the 918 Spyder
- clamshell spoiler looks like trunk is left open again like this as it serves as an air brake now too.
-loss of analog gauges. Center gauge is still analog.
-minimal increase in power it will be faster than the outgoing GTS which runs an 11.2@125 mph
-interior looks plasticky interior Will still be tops in the industry for quality and looks stunningly gorgeous
-silly door handles they’re cool
-increase in price! agree here as they are expensive but still well worth every penny

I think waiting til the .2 would be best, considering the hybrid may be coming.
Very nice! White or Carrara White?

My car is Miami Blue over black, sport package, premium package, sport PASM, no sunroof, 7MT.

Nice, manual tranny!

I debated back and forth with carrara white and normal white, and ended up with carrara white, my dad has this on his cayenne.

I see we have very similar builds lol. I am hoping to keep this one for a long time. just love the way the 991.2 looks vs the new one. fyi- 991.2 s w pdk and cc brakes weighs approx 33xx per car and driver. the new 992 adds about 120 lbs to this which brings it to about 35xx lbs, which the m3 is about 150 lbs more.

this spoiler from porsche does fix the clamshell look of the 992:

Carrara White is a great color. It’s not so metallic where it looks bad like some other metallic whites.

Have you seen the top view of the 992?! Like a modern 993. Also wait until you see what Porsche exclusive has in store...

This car is going to be another game changer like the 991 and this is only the entry level stuff.

I also don’t think those weights are correct or are out of context. Porsche NA says 3382 for the S and 3487 for the 4S. The last time I saw a dct m3 it was just under 3700 lbs so it’s still quite a bit heavier (in line with the 300-400) and doesn’t even have awd. If the new G series gets the auto and awd it will push 4000 lbs and that is 400-600 lbs heavier. A lot of the new regulations are adding weight too.

So when do you take delivery?

That's a long story. The car is one month early, it was completed a few days earlier at the factory and made an earlier ship. This is actually bad for me.

I had an agreement with the wife on delivery, it has to do with the x5m lease being not due til June. I am purchasing the 911, so there is not the issue of 2 leases, but I cannot justify the waste of returning a car I am paying for so many months earlier than planned.

So it may sit at the dealership's garage structure for several weeks unless I can work something else out. We'll see if my SA is willing to be accommodating so I can work out something with the wife.

See if your P-Car dealer will buy your X off lease at the residual value. Not sure if you can get a tax credit but that could be a win as well......Phil
